I've just got off the phone with the Manor Hospital in Oxford. My plans for my operation are currently as follows:

They are expecting me at 11 am on March 16th. The op is scheduled for 2 pm - so no breakfast. I'll be in hospital for two days after that, leaving on either the morning of March 18th or the evening of March 17th, depending on how it goes.

I'll have open visiting hours - I've got my own room so if people want to show up, they can. I might be a bit out of it, though. I'll not be allowed my mobile phone, but I will have my own direct line phone number while I'm in if people want to call.

I've still not managed to get through to Doctor Goodacre. His secretary only works two days a week - I've left a message on her answerphone asking her to get back to me, but there is nothing yet. I need to get a letter from him for college, saying exactly how long he thinks I'll be unfit to work properly in order to sort out my deadlines. I'd also not mind checking with him that [profile] pierot isn't wasting his annual leave taking time off to look after me.

I think I may also spend today trying to see if I can order some books for my time in hospital. Possibly a couple of comfortable academic books.

Gods, I'm nervous about this. I'm trying to view it as some kind of magic diet. I'm going to lose pounds and pounds of flesh! That's got to be a good thing! It still worries me though. I woke up this morning at about 7 am fretting about my masters and deadlines - that's actually what is worrying me the most right now.

Gah. I can do this. I know I can.

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I have a book that will probably make her froth and gnash more :)

In fact... if I raid my Arthuriana collection...

I was going to send Eragon, a moving tale about a young boy who finds a dragon and joins with her to try and resurect the lost Dragon Riders.

The dragon spends most of the book metaphorically rolling her eyes at the boy and saying "yes dear."

It's... a classic example of its genre.

I... see.

Actually... that reminds me that I have a series of four fantasy books (which are probably for children, but hey, who's noticing) that I think [livejournal.com profile] annwfyn should read. It involves a princess who gets told off for hating embroidery and talking the court scholar into teaching her Lating :)

I've just read that - it does have its moments*...

*none of which involve decent female characters, but there you go.

Ah yes, dear, dear Arya.

And the painful descriptives thereof.
