Howl's Moving Castle...
Aug. 3rd, 2005 10:04 am...is due to be released in the UK on September 30th.
So long! So very long to wait!
It's had great reviews in the US as well.
For those who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, the official Disney web site is here. It's the adaption of a wonderous Diana Wynne Jones novel and wants to be seen by as many people as possible. There are some screen shots here
Want it! Want it now!

Date: 2005-08-03 09:49 am (UTC)I really am looking forward to it having seen some of the pics, and since I heard who was voicing various people. Jean Simmons! She's SO cool.

Date: 2005-08-03 10:23 am (UTC)EVERY film is a no talking film. I didnt drop 6 quid on a movie to hear your opinions of it DURING the show.

Date: 2005-08-03 10:29 am (UTC)I could have started talking about relative tensile strengths and flexibility, the crappy pacing or the fact that the heroine was an 18 yaer old bottle blonde with too much lip gloss. Or product placement, the lack of a plausible sense of crowd reactions, and the dodgy super-hero-physics(TM).
But I didn't. :P

Date: 2005-08-03 10:51 am (UTC)1) Reed Richards is blatantly a Scott Summers Clone.
2) Sue Storm-Richards is blatantly a Jean Grey Clone (with a bottle of bleach).
Their offspring, therefore, will be Supremely, Cosmically and Incredibly powerful.
Dr Doom, when offered Reed Richards' firstborn child, instead accepted 75% of the gross profits of their explorations.
*facepalm*
The child who will grow up to (if I remember right) become Galactus was ignored.
*sighs* Dumbest Supervillain Ever. The genetic archetypes were _obvious_...
:P
Don't forget
Date: 2005-08-03 11:10 am (UTC)So that's 75% of the Fantastic Four merchandising then.
Yet he still tries to kill them.
Re: Don't forget
Date: 2005-08-03 11:35 am (UTC)_And_ he gets sent home in a packing crate.
I'm thinking Doom is fairly obviously not the smartest chippie in the deep-fat fryer. :P

Date: 2005-08-03 11:15 am (UTC)And in case you care Franklin didn't become Galactus but helped in his rebirth from what I can tell.

Date: 2005-08-03 11:28 am (UTC)But yeah - even so, _reality warping powerz of Doom_! :P

Date: 2005-08-03 11:36 am (UTC)Unless Rachel joins in. Which could be embarrassing. Which side would she go on? :P

Date: 2005-08-03 11:34 am (UTC)And should I make the obvious joke "What? doom has reality warping powers too?"

Date: 2005-08-03 11:37 am (UTC)That's the point. He would have had, had he not _failed_ to take up the Offer of the Century and gone for the cheapass merchandising rights, which he then runs out on.
There is no sense. *sighs sadly* One day, there will be a sensible supervillain. Or Mr Sinister, one of the two. :)

Date: 2005-08-03 11:56 am (UTC)Anyway, don't diss doom too much. He's going to be much cooler in the next one when he is evil dictator of Latveria! :)
And mister sinister has always looked cool. Never seen him in too much detail though. Though I did see him in the deadpool House of M crossover when he was babysitting a baby cable. Funniest comic I've read in ages as Sinister stands outside the loo talking to deadpool as he takes a piss. And then sinister having a go at him for not washing his hands afterwards.

Date: 2005-08-03 11:47 am (UTC)Scott Summers, on the other hand, could be replaced by a large and manly chest of drawers (made from the same lump of pine) as long as it occasionally shot out SUPERDEATHRAYBEAMS when needed.
Sue Storm did worry me - I don't understand how a 21 year old with a lot of blonde hair got to be Doom's head of scientific research, or, in fact, anything that required obvious brainpower. She must have been a nymphet Dougie Howser.

Date: 2005-08-03 11:59 am (UTC)Dougie Howser = the best. I wanted to be a doctor when I was little solely because of him and the 'Feed the World' song video thing. :) I changed my mind when I realised that while biology was easy, english lit was more interesting. ;P
