annwfyn: (house - my house)
[personal profile] annwfyn
I was woken this morning by the slightly alarmingly gung ho shouts of the megaphone wielding individuals in trucks who drive at the front of the London marathon runners this morning, as they jogged past my house.

This was an alarming way for Sunday morning to begin. I have, however, soothed the stress of being that close to so much physical fitness by pottering in the garden. I have now sown pansy seeds, and planted the strawberry plants that [profile] lanfykins brought me yesterday - which are very very appreciated.

Here is the view from the living room out onto the garden.

When you get outside, this is my garden. Not entirely the tidiest, but the terrifying jungle that it was has been hacked into considerably more shape than it had two months ago!

I've dug out some little flowerbeds, and marked the edges with rocks. I know they look really scruffy, still, but they are all my own work! There are seeds that have been planted in little rows in these flowerbeds as well.

And here is Sarah's strawberry plant, carefully bedded down in its new home.

And finally, this is the view of the house, from the garden.

It's been a very quiet weekend - [profile] pierot came down with a vile migraine yesterday, so that rather nuked our capacity to do anything - but a very nice one for all that. I've had my gardening time, my reading books time, and my watching trashy TV time. I also seem to have finished my chemistry essay with one day to tidy it up, which makes me happy.

Today I am heading over to Lewisham to see [profile] kittyboo_tastic, and then coming back to go swimming with [profile] pierot and [profile] ksirafai and tidy up my essay for handing in tomorrow. For tomorrow, term begins again...

Water the strawberry plants occasionally and you'll probably end up with several pea-sized intensely flavoured strawberries by late summer.

Next year, you will discover that you have an awful lot more strawberry plants than you remember starting with...

After that, they turn into tasty, tasty weeds.
