Banana and why it shouldn't be put near Sally

Yesterday was a bad day.

It reached its nadir when my comfort food from the chinese managed to successfully poison me.

You see, chinese toffee apple (which I had ordered) and chinese toffee banana are utterly indisinguishable unless you bite into them.

Much vomiting ensued.

That's only the third time I've eaten banana since I was about six. The last two times were smoothies where the vile stuff had been crushed and hidden. All three times I got a nasty furry taste in my mouth, a weird pain at the back of my throat/neck and then I puked.

As a result I'm still feeling a little bit grotty today, in the way you do when you've been throwing up.

Gah. Bloody horrible banana.

I should have known something was up when I noticed the mutilated bodies of small children strewn about the restaurant. That's normally how I can tell that Cleo is on the loose.

You haven't met Cleo's boyfriend/flunky. "Junior." Dad says that when he bares his teeth, he's just smiling at me. Cleo and Junior wear matching bandanas.

Junior likes to gnaw on a tree branch. The branch is seven feet off the ground. He jumps straight up and bites it.

It was takeout food, so to be honest I didn't say anything. Just passed the rest of the food on to those who might be able to eat it and vanished upstairs to the bathroom for some quality porcelain time.

I suspect they just thought there wouldn't be much difference for me between apple and banana. There probably isn't for most people. With the toffee caramilised stuff you do taste the crispy batter more than anything else most of the time.

you should go kick their asses. Restaurants take away or otherwise should be aware that people have allergies and that a wrong order could really cause problems

I have no idea at all. For years I just thought I really disliked banana until I discovered that crushed banana in a smoothie which I couldn't taste also gave me a weird aftertaste and made me puke.

It still could be psycho-somatic, I guess. I don't think I've ever felt the need to delve too deeply - banana isn't that hard to avoid normally if you know tis bad.

It won't be psychosomatic if it happens when you can't taste it. It's most likely just the specific chains of molecules that make anana a anana.
