It appears that Play-Yourself has spawned a new acronym - HAPPY - which stands for 'hug a psycho'. It's used to describe the urge that all of us occasionally get to go up and interact with NPCs in jez's world which we KNOW are evil. We KNOW they are troublesome. We KNOW we are likely to wind up in hideous amounts of trouble, leaping worlds with our tails between our legs. Yet sometimes it just seems to happen. The person who in a game was your PC's One True Love turns up, and it takes five minutes to realise that in reality they are a) deeply dangerous, and not just in a cool and sexy kind of way and b) actually in love with your PC and not you, and therefore not likely to be nice and make allowances. You find that NPC who seems to know all the info you need. You're [profile] castorlion and think that the NPC looks like he had a bad childhood and needs a good cuddling. So, to admit to HAPPY thoughts is to admit to really wanting to just go hug that psycho.

Well, I think I need to add a new acronym. Last night, I felt the urge to RAP. Not in a Vanilla Ice kind of way (although I do have a fondness for Eminem) but instead Rant At Psycho. I found myself watching a Master Mage of Entropy loom menacingly and had an overwhelming urge to start ranting on the topic of choices, control, and whether he really had all the information. I would quite happily have started revealing things like 'you're not in control of me! I could just leave your world any time' and finished it up with 'did I mention that that outfit stopped being cool in 1992?' It would have been bad, terrible, catastrophic.

Thankfully, [profile] ksirafai saved me, by applying emergency chocolate cake. But I think that new acronym is needed. What does it say about me that dangerous men with the power over fate itself pointing a gun at one's friends inspires boiling fury? And mostly because he was being WRONG.

Erm. Yes. So. Moving on...

[profile] pierot and I have been given the option of kittens. I've been speaking by a nice lady who breeds Cornish Rex cats, which are cats with very short and curly coats which in the past have been shown to not affect people with mild allergies to cat as they don't shed really, and can't spread their fur and dander about as much. We're going to meet the parent cats and the kittens and see how his breathing goes. If he gets the whole aching lung thing, then no cats. If it doesn't affect him, then Debbie (the nice lady with the cats) is keeping aside two of the kittens for us.

I'm now pondering. I've missed having a cat. I like cats. I like them a lot. On the other hand, having cats would mean that some of our friends who do have severe allergies are not going to be able to visit. It means that we aren't going to be in a position to say 'sod it' and take off around the world. On the other hand, there would be cats, and I really do like cats. I'm still pondering.

Oh - I have pics of the kittens at the moment. They were only born a couple of days ago, so are very little.

Look, honestly, I'm SURE just talking to these people can't go as badly as you people seem to think it will. I'm vaguely pouty about this because we seem to crash through disaster after disaster inspired by no one I'm naming specifically who may or may not have methusalah's thirst, and no one has telepathically gagged HIM yet.

I just feel like these people need help. Is that really such a bad thing?

*hugs*

It isn't the worst thing ever. I think it's just the specific brand of chaos that is attributed to you. Ryan frenzies and kills everyone, I drag people from world to world and from continent to continent with very little control or warning (although I think I'm getting better), and you hug psychos. Hopefully, as we progress, we'll all get better and more controlled at what we're doing and cause less chaos in the process.

WHEN exactly did I cause chaos by hugging a psycho? And don't talk to me about that mess with Antonio, because it was going fine until someone mentioned his wife!

Although thinking about it, I'm still of the opinion that we should track down Antonio and mind rape him use my emotional healing powers to give him a chance at a normal non-psycho life. NO ONE gets that fucked up without being severely injured on some level.

Ben, if I thought there was any real chance of you actually appearing, at my house, in person, ever, I would probably seriously hesitate before getting cats. However, my in depth study of the probability and possibility of such things has led me to believe that despite some dramatic fluctuations in the temperature of the Hades region in recent months and several sightings of Unidentified Flying Porcines, you aren't coming to visit any time soon! :p

Yes! :) You are Ryan can be Aunt and Uncle to the cats.

But Ryan isn't being allowed to name them. He and jez spent yesterday coming up with hideous hideous ideas and I think they have now had all cat naming rights revoked!

Seconded on the 'let me know how it goes' thing. I may be able to have Cats if Jez can cope. I'm gonna visit you even if they kill me horribly, I like you and I like Cats.

Happy moments. Oh yes, we all get them. But I think we're doing quite well here so far. We actually managed to get out of the trouble we caused without making things hideously worse. And I have sparkles. Nothing can be bad in a world where I have sparkles.

Hopefully they will shed little enough that if people are allergic we'll be able to shove them in a different room if we have visitors, and even for those who are seriously allergic they are meant to be a bit better.

Gah! I wish all my friends weren't allergic in various forms tho!

Don't worry. A good friend of mine down south has cats that shed as though it's going out of fashion. I can cope a night or two at hers without too much difficulty as long as I get fresh air during the day.

and good luck with the kitties. there are other breeds that do not shed - will check my book.

Prepare to hoover regularly if you go get cats - I grew up with a tabby (which shed freely, so set off allergies if they're going to, I think), with no bad reactions, so I'm fairly sure I'm not allergic - but even I get itchy eyes and sneezy in some cat owners' houses, so allergy sufferers would no doubt react more badly!

I really can only put it down to there simply being Too Much cat hair in the furniture/in the air, because I never had the same problem at home where we had a strict house-cleaning routine...

I've had cats before - all my life really - so I'm aware of the hair issue, although I am told that rex coated cats are really known for not shedding much at all. Basically, most cats have three types of coat - they have close, tight base hairs, and then another two types (I forget the details - brain fried because tis morning) and it's the top two types which shed. The rex coated cats just have the bottom layer which doesn't shed particularly.
