Underworld: Evolution
Jan. 20th, 2006 01:15 pmI am not sure if this is a wise move or not, but tonight
pierot and I are going to the cinema to see Underworld: Evolution. We'll be going to the 21.40 showing at Surrey Quays.
Would anyone care to join us?
There's *winces* a back flipping girl in a corset. She looks kinda hot. How can it go wrong?*
*answers on an LJ comment, please.

Underworld
Date: 2006-01-20 01:22 pm (UTC)Vampires in love with Werewolves, can't go wrong. The plot seems also suspiciously like Blade 3, which I liked because of the cute central European vampires, I don't care what anyone says! Of course, the first Blade was great for having vampires in sunscreen! Poetical, I think! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Plus, great fight scenes!
As for seeing underworld... er, I'll have to see what ends up happening later, and how I feel and all that.

Date: 2006-01-20 01:27 pm (UTC)I wrote a review of it, a long time ago. I think it's here (http://winterthing.livejournal.com/269043.html).
Re: Underworld
Date: 2006-01-20 01:30 pm (UTC)It can't be worse than Necronomicon , Dracula 2000 or John Carpenter's Vampires . However, Necronomicon does have the tentacle sceen. Mouth tentacles! He he he! Wiggle wiggle wiggle.
Dodgy LARP WoD? Ak. Oh dear. But admittedly, in my book, Kate Beckinsdale can wear a corset if she wants to. ;)

Date: 2006-01-20 03:05 pm (UTC)Nothing can be quite as dodgy as
Dracula: The Virgin Record YearsDracula 2000. You can't just go throwing those accusations out there!Re: Underworld
Date: 2006-01-20 03:06 pm (UTC)Re: Underworld
Date: 2006-01-20 03:10 pm (UTC)The werewolf - Lucian - surprisingly cool. Kraven, also a pretty neat vampire. Kate Beckinsale - even worse second time around. And watching her as Selene gave me nasty flashbacks to Van Helsing.
Dracula 2000 I won't risk again.
John Carpenter's Vampires I am actually rather fond of.
Re: Underworld
Date: 2006-01-20 03:19 pm (UTC)Underworld has Kate Beckinsale. Which isn't.

Date: 2006-01-20 03:10 pm (UTC)Though you have to admit, Van Helsing shooting up from vampire blood leeches, 'cmon! And the whole Christian tie in, that was just er...
At least both films do contain scantily clad vampires.
On a side note: I just realized that over 75% of my film collection contains decapitations, including those two movies if I'm not mistaken. I must be a disturbed little girl.

Have you seen the first one?
And does anyone know what happen to the legal case over the first one? I didn't want WW to be in the right but if it had stopped hte first one escaping onto screens that'd have been a good thing.
You know what is worse? I know I'll definately watch the second one at some point...

Date: 2006-01-20 01:29 pm (UTC)It's like a McDonalds milkshake. You know it won't do you any good. You know it's trashy, and all that bright colour is all artificial flavouring. It doesn't even taste that great, yet you just...can't...stop.
Oh, I've been asked to ask you if there is any chance you might be in London at the beginning of March, for sad larp related reasons. Alex D's vamp PC has a regnant who is an NPC, and the NPC is due to be holding court on the first weekend of March.

Date: 2006-01-20 01:31 pm (UTC)There is a small chance I could be in town... not really sure where I stand with things at the moment, have been off work for about a week now, not 100percent sure I'll go back.
Blregh. Getting out of town for a few days would probably do me good.

Date: 2006-01-20 01:58 pm (UTC)And you could bring angst and pain to a Dalton char. What more could a weekend offer?

Date: 2006-01-20 02:13 pm (UTC)I assume the char is a toreador?

Date: 2006-01-20 02:44 pm (UTC)And the character might not have been a Toreador. I mean, it is, (both the NPC and Dalton's PC), but, y'know. It might not have been. :p

Date: 2006-01-20 02:16 pm (UTC)"they sued Sony because the plot of the movie was clearly derivative of piece of Nancy Collins-penned World of Darkness short fiction. Sony laughed at them, until WW introduced a tape of a Comic-Con panel the Underworld crew had participated in - where they talked about how much they drew on White Wolf books for mood and inspiration. The case was settled out-of-court - nobody's talking (NDAs), but it looks like WW got paid. "

Date: 2006-01-21 12:51 pm (UTC)WW won, and Sony had to change the script.
At least one point they argued breach of copyright on was Selene being Lucita.
Rumour abounds that the original script considerably resembled the new WOD..... with the Lycan/Vamp thing from the old WOD thrown in. I do not know for sure if that was the case.

Date: 2006-01-21 12:54 pm (UTC)Given i like Hugh Jackman, thats saying something. What I hated was the way they portreyed Kate Beckinsale's character. I actually like her, saw her in Much Ado about Nothing, and loved it.
But this???? She needs to fire her agent after Van Helsing and Pearl Harbour.

Here we go. Odeon Liverpool. Screen 5, 17.30, 22/09/03. £3.70. Served by RF at Terminal 3. Now, there are a few cinema ticket stubs in my wallet, but this one serves a purpose.
In the event of my death, by means natural or otherwise, I can present this ticket and claim those two hours of my life back.
It can't fail.

Date: 2006-01-20 03:15 pm (UTC)Jack McConnell has been asleep for many years (four in fact) and there are no signs of him waking up.
However, there are dark activities afoot in Edinburgh. The sexy MSP, Selene, has been seen canoodling with a member of the SNP, and may have been involved in the decapitation of her former mentor, Donald Dewar.
And now McConnell stirs. How will this affect the political scene? Will he respond to Selene's blatant disregard for the Labour dress code? Will he stop her dubious kilt wearing lover from regularly becoming massive and furry, and just take the whiskey away from him (and teach him to shave).
What will happen next?

Date: 2006-01-20 06:58 pm (UTC)The ancients (Gordon Brown, Alex Salmon and Tam Dalziel) arise in the south and descend on their offspring like ravanous fiends of and older world. Then when they are all bruised and bloodied the devil himself arrives to claim their scalps. Will they put the past behind them to rally around the flag and defeat the great imposter Tony Blair, once proud member of the Scottish political scene but banished long ago after it was revealed that he was in fact a cuckoo, son of a bastard Englishman raised in a Scottish nest.
