It appears that Pridwen is missing!

Mini Emergency Services (who took her away) say that she's been delivered to the mini body shop in Park Lane, Battersea. They say they've not received her.

So. Missing! One mini - black & silver with a dragon on the roof. If found, please return to Sally.

I'm beginning to get mildly anxious about this.

Update:

Pridwen has now been found. It appears she was just in another part of the garage.

I'm having a bit of a panic attack. It seems that the current estimate for repair work is £2000. I don't know what this is for, as apparently the breakdown of this sum was sent out to me in the post on Saturday. Nothing can happen until I've received this, and either paid the garage the money, or made my claim to Mini Insurance and got things approved, which the garage think will also require me posting off the estimate to Mini Insurance.

I'm actually getting anxious about this.

Another update:

The breakdown of the costs apparently is:

£563 labour
£178 painting
£1715 parts
£420 specialists - wire and repair, new bonnet stripes, specialist wheel alignment, environmental protection

This is for new front bonnet pannel as the old one is dented, a new plastic bumper, paint work, the steering also needs checked and the electrics where bits at the front got ripped off need checked.

Yet another update:

The insurance should cover most of the costs - I've got an excess of £150, but the rest should be paid for. My no claims bonus is very very dead now, but at least I'm going to get my car back. The insurance people are sending one of their engineers out to take a look at my car at the end of the week. On the downside, I am going to be carless for a little while until all this is sorted out, so I guess I'll be a bit less mobile than usual.

Panic subsiding.

Panic subsiding.

Aiee! I have checked down the back of the couch and she isn't there. On the bright side, should mini emergency services have lost her, then they are pretty well placed to replace her.

Bugger - that sucks - what was wrong with her? At least she was found - is she often off having Adventures?

She's normally quite a staid little car. It seems that her dull life has gotten too much for her, and she has taken off in search of more fun things. Either that or she just missed the company of other minis!

Sorry to hear about the fate of Pridwin... I'm sure things will get sorted out, and there is insurance and the like.

I thought you might like cats giving each other high fives (http://media.putfile.com/Cat-High-Five/320).

If there is anything I can do to help out, let me know!

Get them to fax you a copy of the breakdown estimate, if they have such a thing?

I also recommend having a chat to the insurance people to understand how all this works.

*hugs*

I've now tracked down the man who did my estimate and got him to go through it on the phone. Am now talking to insurance people.

*exhales*

And curse the loss of my no claims bonus!

Faxes are your friend here. Fast communication followed up by a phone call. Good luck.

Bloody hell, those are expensive repairs. Thank god for insurance. Are they replacing all your wires with pure gold as well?

Ahh the joys of the motor industry getting rid of box shaped cars which can be fixed with a bash of a hammer and a bit of black tape and replacing them with rounded cars in which nothing is fixable and everything needs replacing. Ohh and lets not forget the disappearance of bumpers that were all the same height on every car and did a good job at bumping and the appearance of bumpers of all sorts of heights that magically miss each other and result in all those new curves being bashed in.

Naturally the cost of all the replacement parts for a car cost more than a complete car in the first place.

How do you misplace a mini that distinctive?

Eek! I should get that off to the insurance people asap. You'll loose the no claims but that is what insurance is for.

Here's hoping all goes well.

What actually happened to the car in the first place?

jez put it into a hedge. Nothing very major - he skidded coming back from the tube station to drop off Ginnie et al.

Basically, the hedge took the front bumper bit off.

...And it will cost that much?

Apparently, yes.

The guy who recovered the car for us reckoned that coz it was going to be an insurance job, the repairs people would try and milk it as much as they could.

Get a second opinion, get the repair bill that they have given you and ring up about 3 other repair shops and see how much they quote.

Yikes, that's a big repair bill. At least they haven't actually lost your car though.

I hope it all get sorted quickly and smoothly from here though.

Yes! To be fair, the insurance should cover everything after the first £150, so it won't be costing me that much. It's just still quite scary how much this is apparently going to be.

Holy hell! I'm shocked and appalled by their pricing. The insurance should cover a lot of it, I hope.
