I went to the theatre last night to see 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf' which was an interesting play, and a very nice evening.

The play itself was something which I think actually affected other people more than me. It was an interesting play, and a good play, but I don't think I particularly emotionally connected with it. As portraits of a dysfunctional relationship go, it was pretty damn good.

Randomly, halfway through the second act, I began imagining the entire situation as a post put up on one of the polyamory livejournal communities:

I'm in a polyamorous relationship with M, and she recently decided to bring home her secondary, N, for an evening, without explaining to me what was going on. She and N then started making out in front of me. I went entirely psycho bug-nutz, threw a book across a room and decided to destroy the fragile fantasy world we had created to keep out dysfunctional relationship stable.

Random_poly_Person writes: I think you need to remember that your jealousy may be a problem in you. No external person can affect your relationship - why do you think your wife loves you less, just because she pointedly seduces other men in front of you? You need to deal with your insecurity.

Or maybe I'm just being mean. It was a small and stray thought.

I also found myself wondering during the film, and am still wondering, whether the play was about a couple of trapped in a failed relationship (which to a certain extent makes the play a product of its time - a time in which divorce was more difficult and less socially acceptable) or two people trapped in a relationship which they have, on some level, both chosen and don't want to live without. A relationship which is destructive to all those around them, but which those in it could not live without.

Still pondering.

Like, I said, interesting play...
