OK.

So we saw a house we liked tonight.

It's lovely. It's only three bedrooms, so no spare room, but it's got a huge living room, big kitchen, private garden and wood floors throughout. The bedrooms are all nice and big and it's in a wonderful area right next to the Thames.

The only thing. It's a REALLY nice house. Another group of people were going to look at it immediately after us. Then there's another group today. The estate agents will take it off the market once they've got a deposit from us. The only person who's got the cash is me, and I can't get it out of my savings account until Monday at the earliest, due to it being a savings account.

Gnargh!

I can't take the tension of moving house! Why can't they just say "you're going to take it? Fab! We'll hold it"?

*sighs*

I guess because they need to protect the landlord's interests and it is their job to make sure we aren't time wasters, but it is just SO goddamn nerve racking.

*twitches and trembles*

*nods nods nods*

Yes. Do. We might not have any chance - we still need to find out if they can take two of the beds out and if cats are a go, and then see if we can get them a deposit. I've got a feeling that we won't get it, but we'll see.

I've got another couple of places to look at next week as well, hopefully.

hmmm... I didn't go for the spare room... I went looking for a study. ;o)

But I have one now.

And why didn't you say you were looking for a three bed... I have a lovely one. It's only a 4 hour (each way) commute to London... ;o) (Also known as no, my house -still- hasn't sold)

moving house is too much stress, in some ways the old fashioned thing of living in one house through your childhood then getting married and living in another house till you die is appealing.

I'm yearning for the day I can buy a house to grow old in! I hate moving with a really firey passion.

My mum got the title deeds to our house yesterday, the house was originally bought as new in 1959 from the people who sold it to my mum 5 years ago.
I would love to be able to have a pemanent home, to never have to move again it would be great. In the couples case they bought the house, had their children there and he only sold the house when his wife died and he was going into sheltered housing.

Can you go talk to your bank. Explain that you are moving money from your savings but that you need to be able to pay somebody asap and can they give you a short term overdraft of £x. Then you pay from your normal account and on monday you get rid of the overdraft with money from savings. Then you tell the bank thank you and they cancel your overdraft... Does require time to go to bank and bank being nice of course...

Have you checked to make sure it wasn't built on some kind of Celtic Burial Ground or anything?
