  • [profile] rweishaar's sister said this morning that I was the first safe driver she'd had since she came to this country. I laughed and said that most of the English people I know say I'm a rather timid driver. I guess that's an illustration of the difference between British and American driving.

  • I watched Ella Enchanted last night. I think it would make Baby Ginnie cry, or possibly make Baby Ginnie carve whoever made her watch it into small pieces with an axe. Me? It made me bounce around the room and spend the rest of the evening singing 'don't go breaking my heart'. It's the most wonderful piece of fluff imaginable.

  • I found my National Insurance number! Go me! Oh, OK, I phoned home and my Dad found it for me. I can now be paid for work, though.

  • I went to the Requiem game on Saturday night. I walked in and four people came up to let me know that they needed a membership form and a copy of my MC log. The Cam really isn't like anywhere else.

  • I can swim again! Yesterday morning [profile] aardnebby and [profile] ksirafai and I went swimming and I finally got around to buying a pair of goggles. It turns out that with my eyes covered, I actually can still swim, although my muscles really did notice that I was now working them! Huzzah!

  • I wrote stuff this weekend! OK, so I wrote an ending for Q, which might or might not have all been a dream sequence, and I wrote some background tat for Fading Suns, but I wrote. I sat at a computer and just produced words. I feel like my brain is beginning to stretch again. I'm quite glad I wrote up the Q story - it kinda seemed to fit.

  • I got to spend some time this weekend with [profile] aardnebby who I haven't seen in far too long and was reminded of how lovely he is. Steve is good. More people should recognise this.

So, those are my scattershot thoughts for the morning. How you doin'?

Yep, and this is the day that decides it.

Other than that I'm ok really.

with reference to the last point - would love to, but he appears to have soem kind of personal vendetta of hate... which is odd, but ah well...

and I did like the story. 99% of what I see going on in the mage gaem at the moment is awful. esp the "lets kill everyone" plots that are going on at the moment...

Glad you liked the story. It was nice to write, even if it was rather weird writing Cam fic again.

And I have many mutters about YoF. I don't think it is anyone's fault really - I just think it was always going to be hard to run well, and the longer it has run on, without any real planning, the more zombie-like the venues left behind feel.

have you just totally given up on teh cam then now?

it was always going to be hard to do... I think what needed to be done is more letting the local STs end things how they see fit for their characters, making it slightly more personal... not sweeping avatar storms, 90% of you are dead.

What's happened to make you feel crappy?

And please don't tell me about the horny. There's a TMI line and accelerating when you see it is NOT the right answer! ;)

Pissed off due to work, really don't want to be here anymore.

Crappy cos I managed to be an ass last night and now need to do serious grovelling.

And we can leave the rest I guess, but you did ask :)

On the bus this morning I finally got the wordplay involved in the film title Shanghai Noon, which somehow cheapened it.

On its own the title has the kind of poetic mystique only possessed by something that sounds cool but is otherwise entirely meaningless. With the play on words, it's just cheap and tawdry.

Shanghai Noon is a Jackie Chan Western with... erm, the guy from the Wedding Thingy and Zoolander who's not Zoolander.

Shanghai Noon can also be seen as (Shang) High Noon. Quasi-Western Stylee puns abound.

...It's not very funny.

I like the sound of the word "Shanghai". It's an interesting somewhat complex composite of phonetics, and also has the dual cultural resonance of being a chinese port city and a term for being kidnapped (typically from Shanghai, in a press-ganged sort of way).

The word "noon" acts as an interesting counterpoint to this, being quite a simple and entirely occidental word, yet not curt or blunt, so it flows on well from the initial "shanghai".

It sounds nice.

Realising it was formed as part of a really bad play on words just ruins that for me.

Oh, and writing _really_ bad purple prose. I think I need to find a nice clean character that doesn't lapse into Epic Stylee whenever she's forced to put words on paper or in a memorable style. :)

Hum. Still prodding at Kinfolk, actually. Got any Fianna offered? *vaguely hopeful* FS tat I can coo over? The Advetures of Faran, the Wonder Horse? Anything?

I actually find that rather hurtful. I spent a lot of time ensuring there would be minimal hassle for you and that you would not be given contradictory messages.

I'm very sorry if this made you feel harrassed. It was not the intention.

I'm sorry! I really didn't mean that as a dig - I was aware that everyone who was there was being sweet and trying to be helpful. I just found it mildly...I don't know...

*tries to put it into words*

*fails*

The comment above was meant to be a wry comment on the nature of the Cam, and the way it differs from any other gaming system, because in the Cam things such as the paperwork etc is important and needed to be sorted out. It isn't that you were in any way harrassing me - you were doing your job and being as helpful as you could. It was just odd, having taken that step back, to come back into an environment where priorities do work the way they do.

I didn't mean to sound as if I were having a go. I didn't mean to. Shall I delete that part of this entry?
