My Weekend

Good things about today: White Horse Hill, apple crumble, my mushroom risotto in the pub arriving with unexpected extra halloumi, thus meaning I won lunch.

Bad things about today: [profile] lanfykins introducing me to pocket frogs for the iPad, thus meaning that any hope I ever had of living a normal, functional and productive life vanished, in an instant. If anyone else is playing, I'm down as Annwfyn, as per usual.

Thank you, [profile] ksirafai & [profile] lanfykins for visiting.

I also note, it was awesome to see [profile] kathminchin, [profile] becky_spence & [profile] windzswept yesterday as well. Lounge picnic was definitely For The Win.

And finally, have some pics of White Horse Hill today.

I had forgotten just how much I love that place. Today was a particularly awesome day to visit; the sun was bright, the wind was crisp and we got to see the local farmer and his sheep dog rounding up the sheep on the hill. I remembered how fond I am of border collies and how much I like seeing them at work.

Then we walked to the horse, and around the top of the castle, having to stop half way as Sarah worked out we were going widdershins (thus, apparently, proving that both Ginnie and I have some kind of taint in our souls), and back again. Someone had left a bunch of daffodils up by the horse. I'm not sure why, but in my mind it was clearly some form of offering.

Sarah dropped me off back at Dad's afterwards, and now I'm home, pottering around an empty house and feeling remarkably zen about the world. I should totally go to see historic sites more often.

We do need to meet up! I know we had talked about this week but failed to arrange anything definite. When are you leaving, anyway, and when are you back?

Back on the eigth, Steve has time off on the weekend following if you're free, otherwise, I'll be flying solo weekend of the 24th and happy for company :)

Enjoy the frogs. The color changing ones are the most amusing ons I think ;)

That is true! I did promise to take you too, didn't I?

I have a list of options for our weekend, mind, some of which aren't even White Horse Hill. :-)

Lovely pictures. Reminds me of when we were there, just less than a year ago. It was a clear spring day and we could see Whittenham Clumps (though we did walk along to the next hill fort).

We stayed overnight in a lovely pub near the hill. I've forgotten the name of it but the food was very good.

Did you want to come and visit the cottage at some point btw? It's a bit of a trek for you (I expect it'll be around 45 minutes drive) but you're welcome...?

I would love to visit. I think I'm due to go into Oxford at some point over the next little while, so I shall let you know when that happens as I'll be in your neck of the woods by then.
