Prior to popping over to someone's house to pick up a picture, check whether or not they are having a cocktail party.

This may save you from walking into a room containing men in suit jackets and women with plentiful make up and high heels, whilst wearing ratty jeans, the check shirt you used to go riding in, and no make up whatsoever.
