I have a hideous suspicion that this advert is actually voicing the secret fantasy of almost every girl I know, especially those who spontaneously dance in the rain, explain how they just have this reaction to thunderstorms, and are sure that they are just more creative than most people, and the office admin job is only temporary, and will stop any day week month year now, when they finally write that novel.*

I am fairly sure I am amongst that number. I also have a horrible feeling that when I first saw this advert, I proceeded to spend the evening twisting my hair into rags so I could get that awesome curly hair effect. I considered getting a perm. A perm would mean that I'd get to live by the sea and have good looking men swim down to the bottom of the ocean to find me flowers from the Special Magic Sea Garden that my spontaneousness and specialness had uncovered, right?

What's worse is that I'm considering doing it right now.




*I promise, these examples are not inspired by any one person in particular. These are all things that have been said to me by upwards of 4 people. It isn't about you, any more than it is about me. Which is to say it's really about both of us.

The last time I spontaneously got the she-David flowers, she opened her door, looked at them in my hand, and said "What have you done this time?"

I might observe that girls would have more flowers acquired for them if they didn't take this line.
