So, I've paid my daydream tax, bought my lottery ticket and can now plan out how I'll spend my winnings for the next 24 hours.

Of course, the first thing I'll get is a shiny new car.

I've picked also out my house, which isn't huge and posh and scary, but does look gorgeously comfortable and quite near lots of people I know and like.

It also is near the countryside, so I'll have somewhere to keep the horse I will have the time to keep and ride regularly. And once I have a horse and am riding regularly, I can also get a dog.

And then I'd sit on the rest of the money and wallow in the sensation of never having to work again, and instead get to go riding, and read books and bimble, and probably see if I can do an undergraduate anthropology degree or something.

So, what about you guys? What are your plans when you win the lottery?

Selfish spends: House, car, holidays (one for theme parks, one for historical sites, one for scuba diving), stuff for the house, stuff for family and close friends, and donation to the British Museum only if they name a wing after me. Or at least put my name engraved up on the wall for all time.

Slightly less selfish spends: Probably set up a few bursary type things for supporting students at university doing History or archaeology. Money to Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Cancer research.

Not that I've given it some thought or anything :)

That is a very nice house.

I shall buy my ticket tomorrow with the last of my cash and hope for a windfall of enough to pay my rent. I have small ambitions it seems.

Car for starters, something like a Honda Accord or similar fuel efficient performance car.

From there, familiy and friends, with that kind of money I'd want to fix all the annoyances that plauge people's lives. I wouldn't want to elevate anyone to riches, but certainly enough to ease the worry.

Throw a big party for work, and organise weekly doughnuts, I'd keep working and invest in the project I'm working on

Finally I'd design and build a home, It'd be large enough to host a decent party and with an 8 player LAN room.

For me it'd be about drawing people around me and doing as much as I can for as many as I can

Let's see. After giving half the money to charity as per the promise I made myself a few years ago, I'd be left with about 83 million. Chuck three million at various friends I've also made promises to, and...

This house (http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-30704965.html) or something like it, to share with friends. I am quite happy to ensure that they never have to work again too (unless they want to) in order to ensure a life full of roleplaying and boardgames and computer games and wine and laughter, not unlike one of the April cons spread across the entire year.
A new car; though not actually one much shinier than my current one. Just a little bit zippier :)
Pay someone to do all my housework. And possibly my accounts and stuff too.
Go places by expensive taxi (the kind with blacked-out windows and silk-waistcoated drivers) when I don't feel like driving.
All the academic courses in the world. An orgy of learning is ahead of me!
A holiday in an ice hotel.
A little cottage in Perthshire to return to when I'm homesick.
An entire new wardrobe of custom clothes that fit me perfectly. I'll get someone who can custom-make me stockings if it kills me!
I might buy a racehorse and take my friends on days out when it runs, and drive the trainer mad with constantly visiting it and giving it pet names and tipping the stable boy/girl :)
...etc...

A house with a proper library, money to travel, money to support wildlife, Alzheimer and Cancer research charities (maybe some others), house for some friends and family, maybe see about buying shares in some companies working on building spaceships...and maybe a car in case there is a zombie invasion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwy6nY78sZk

Pay off some mortgages for friends and family, large sum to various charities. Then I'd buy a flat along the Thames, an apartment in Paris and a villa on a Greek island, though I would have to tour many of them first to decide which one.

With lots of people coming along to help me choose.

I'd learn to drive and get a little pad down South so I could visit down there more often.

I'd sort my family and friends out with some stuff.

Employ a personal trainer.

Buy some custom made aviator style mirror-shades.

Employ some professional PR people to recruit for IoD.

Just off the top of my head.

Same things as I'm doing now, but better-funded.

I think I'd need three houses - something in London (http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-30307711.html), something in Melbourne (http://www.hockingstuart.com.au/?autoSearch=1&OID=2878583&Con=S) and something in new york.

A new car, something that actually has back doors and aircon, though Jo has always wanted a Jeep Wrangler.

Then I would proceed not to use any of these things by going directly to the airport and booking a ticket somewhere and not coming back for a while. I'd send people tickets to come up and meet up with us in various nice spots around the world, and see the sights with them.

I'd buy the flat above this one, pay off both mortgages outright, reconvert them back into one house, tear it all out and do it up exactly as I have planned out in my head. Which I do have. Extensively.

Then I'd learn how to drive and buy a fuschia pink Rolls Royce. And a lot of clothes. And makeup. And jewellery. And I'd get both my parents out of debt.

And then I'd never have to worry about working, and I'd be able to be generous and buy people dinner and drinks and throw parties a lot and give friends good presents all the time.

I'd also buy a tenement flat in Glasgow; something Victorian and beautiful and all done out in red brick with high ceilings and cornicey bits. And I could go there to write. Which I would do. A lot.
