Happy thoughts...

So. As I’m sleepy and groggy but actually surprisingly content with the world today, I thought I’d share some of the silly small and geeky things that are making me happy in my life right now, because I whinge far too much and really should remember to talk about the little things that make me happy too.

1) World of Warcraft. I know that I am the slowest WoW player in existence, but right now I’m really really enjoying my blood elf hunter. I love collecting pets, I really like the new ‘drop into a dungeon’ facility, which means I can easily PUG random dungeons and collect bits of kit and rep for Undercity (thus building up my skeletal horse rep fund) and I’ve got a whole bunch of goals which keep powering me onwards in a very good way.

2) Malifaux. I have small steampunk models and I really really love painting them. The very lovely melenky has guided me to www.scribd.com, where I have acquired the pdf of the rules, so I could potentially try playing it once I have a proper army, and my next step is to try an ink wash over my gamins to get them looking a little bit nicer.

3) My kindle. I know this sounds silly, but I love my kindle. I love having a tiny, slim, light little tablet which can fit in my coat pocket, but can carry a whole library of books. I love that I can read it comfortably, because the screen is big enough, and can have enough variety that I never run out of books or have the wrong book for my mood. I’m reading so much more since I got the thing and it just keeps making me happy.

4) My pink pyjamas which pierot got me for my birthday. There’s no good reason for them to make me that happy. I just like the colour pink and I like pyjamas. Therefore these are awesome.

5) Cooking. I’m an awful cook. I mean, really truly abysmal. ksirafai has been known to take over from me in the kitchen because she’s scared of what I might produce next. But I’ve been trying to cook a bit more lately, and whilst most of it is still awful, I’ve done some alright baking and I’ve really enjoyed it.

I totally recommend them. I adore my kindle - I love having an entire library available all the time, and I find it amazingly easy to carry around.

aardnebby made me crêpes this morning for Shrove Tuesday (I refuse to call them pancakes on the grounds that pancakes are supposed to stack), without burning down the house. :)

It sounds a lot sillier than a Kindle, but I'm really enjoying Quantum Leap reruns at the moment. I'd forgotten just how much I loved this show as a kid, and now I'm older I can appreciate it again in a different light.
