Classic literary references in pop
Dec. 3rd, 2010 11:55 amI recently found out that 'China in your Hand' is a basically about the Frankinstein story - it's a musing on both Mary Shelley who wrote it and the story itself. I'm now listening to the song in a really different way.
I am also told by the wisdom of the internet that 'It's All Coming Back To Me' is about Wuthering Heights. It's a song about the kind of obsessive love which digs up your lover's dead body to cradle it in the moonlight. It should be heard as a love song from Heathcliffe to Cathy.
And I'm now reminded of how very creepy Heathcliff is...
