Poor John.

I didn't know him very well - he was someone who came to games, who I chatted with on occasion. I remember how helpful he was when I was having a bad time at The Fan Museum - jez got me to e mail him out of the blue because he knew that John was involved with trade unions and thought he might be able to give me some advice. He gave me a lot of advice, and checked back in with me afterwards to see how I was getting along.

He turned up to a bunch of games I was involved with, and played wraiths if he possible could. I think, actually, that's where my other very clear set of memories come from - he was one of the few solid players of [personal profile] twicedead's little wraith game. A WW1 Tommy, I think?

He just always seemed to be a really nice guy. Not a close friend, but someone I liked and valued and always smiled to see. I loved his weird fondness for rabbits. I'll miss him.

He played Ralph Edwin Hadley, a WW1 ambulenceman. Great character, he helped me a lot with the train stations and the stuff happening under London, and was one of the pillars of the game. I pulled up his character sheet this morning.

John always seemed funny, kind and thoughtful. I'll miss him.

He liked WW1. His ZG character was a WW1 wraith as well, I think. He had a load of bi-planes appear for the final battle.

He was a really nice guy. Really decent. One of the good sorts in life.

Yeah just catching up with that news, such a shame. He was a nice guy.

I'm in a similar position; I knew him from the games, and got on with him well there, and a little bit from outside – I enjoyed a drink with him on a couple of occasions when Dave Townsend was back from Afghanistan.

I remember on one of those occasions, when I was feeling a bit maudlin due to the anniversary of a friend's death, he and DT managed to both cheer me up and helped me commemorate the friend's memeory.

I'm going to miss him too.

He was a nice guy. And he always went out of his way to make sure we were okay. He was a close friend, but I wish I had made the effort to see him more often.

I'm in a similar situation: I only really knew him through LARP, and liked him quite a lot for how little I really knew him - he was clearly a really good guy, and I'm shocked and saddened to hear the news.

Wow, these things always come and hit you out of the blue. Totally not what I was expecting tuning into my Friends page today.

RIP John. Always good for a pint or five, a really nice guy. He'll be missed.

I've been trolling other peoples entries. Any info on how he died? It doesn't make much difference, but I guess I'm just hoping it was peacefully.

No idea. No one knows really. Just that he was found dead at home.
