1) I like Tigger. Hence the title of this post. He has, of late, very much become the Winnie the Pooh character I identify with the most. I think I mostly run on mania and bounce. Well, him or Kanga, who also runs on bounce, but with added mothering urges. The latter depresses me however, so I'll focus on Tigger right now.
2) Speaking of mothering, I had the cutest collection of little girls come to the museum today. They were from an all girl's school out in Clapham, and I swear, they walked out of some kind of 1950s dream. They walked in in pairs, perfectly quiet except for a gentle chatter, with little straw boaters on their heads. They were also really really smart. Although they did scream a lot when the lightning went off.
3) And following on from the lightning, I got to show it off today!
jholloway and
akonken, who are two of my favourite people, came to my museum today and let me show them around. They even let me do my whole spiel when doing my lightning demo, although I'm not sure either of them really got into the whole 'ten year old' thing. James also showed me up hideously by being far better with the Armonica than I ever am. I swear, I should get him in to do demos. We then went for ice cream and then cocktails, which was lovely. I'm now home and slightly tipsy, but in a very good way.
4) After the drinking, I got home to discover that my tickets to see the Unthanks with
skinny_cartman had arrived, which is making me very gleeful, as I love the Unthanks and I love spending time with Matt. So both together counts as extra-nice.
5) I also have just been reminded how strongly I associate flavour with memory. I just got in, and as I'd mostly been snacking over the day, I made dinner. I cooked gnocci with butter, parmesan and a little bit of green pesto. Eating it, I suddenly had this really clear memory of being in South America with
quisalan. I don't remember which town we were in, or even which country. Not Chile, for sure. I think Peru, but I'm not sure. It was a small town, and we had decided to go a bit crazy and just go for Italian food, which was a bit of a treat. We were sitting at a round table, and I had gnocci with pesto. I can't remember much else about it, but that image came back with such vividness. I've now spent another half hour getting all nostalgic about South America, and Chile in particular. You know, I think if I were to describe heaven it would be a small cabana in Horçon, overlooking the beach. I can even remember the food we ate there - bread and goat's cheese, spaghetti bolognaise, lots and lots of red wine. It was just so quiet, and chilled.
Damnit! I want to go back there now!
6) Ages ago, a lovely creature by the name of
richardiii sent me a song called 'Sanctuary' by a band called 'Albany'. And it has become one of my favourite songs. He just sent me a link to their facebook page, which linked to their myspace, which has more lovely music by them. And this makes me happy.
7) My world rocks. That is all.
