annwfyn: (mood - pointless but happy weekend)

Wicked was fantastic. A rather weak Fiyero, but other than that lovely. A fab Glinda, which got me pondering about why I like Glinda so much in Wicked. I think because she isn't naturally talented, or special like Elphba. She's a pretty, spoilt, ordinary girl who learns to become something greater over the course of the play and I really like that.

I also discovered this evening that the Wicked Witch of the East, in the original Frank L Baum book, was called 'Sally'. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Should I look out for low flying houses?

In contrast, Lost Boys 2 is everything one might expect it to be. Don't go and see it! I suffered that you might escape my fate! And oh my god! The drugs have not been kind to Corey Haim.

The re-vamp of 'Cry Little Sister' was also as hideous as it could ever have been. Why was that film made? And should they not have realized something was wrong when the only original cast members they got involved were the two Coreys?

Anyway, that was my weekend. How was yours?

My weekend? Well, the whole house thing has left me lacking in enthusiasm and the ability to give a damn but, as ever, I enjoyed Lost. I like playing an unreasonable Hero, the man who will save the world, whether rhey want it or not! :-)

Hey... at least your Fiyero could sing and walk at the same time!!
We also had an errant orchestra.
(not as errant as the Le Mis Orchestra, but noticably off...)

Please tell me more about Lost Boys 2... I've been listening to Cry Little Sister a lot lately (the original).

Think of Lost Boys as a good meal. Not fine cuisine, but still enjoyable.

Now, imagine that meal passing through your digestive track...

It's a really really bad film. It's like all the vampires that the other vampires found too stupid to keep around moved to a small seaside town. There, they were dumb.

The lead vampire is apparently Kiefer Sutherland's half brother, and he does look slightly like Kiefer Sutherland without the charisma. He's like this black hole of personality. I mean, when your evil villain lead is getting outshone by Corey Feldman, something is badly wrong!

The basic plot is 'brother and sister move to a seaside town. There are shenanigans'. That's about it really. Oh, and there are an alarming number of topless shots for not readily discernible reason.

And, also, women should be stabbed through the heart with antlers after you have sex with them.

See, it does have some redeeming features ;-).

I went to see Shakespeare, and there was a Jazz festival. My weekend was win.

Lost Boys 2 actually got made?

yes, yes it did. It says how bad a movie is when Corey Feldman is the best part. I wrote more in another comment...

Yes. Apparently Joel Schumacher, who did the original, loathed the sequel and felt it should never have been made. This from the man who made some of the later Batman films!

"the Wicked Witch of the East, in the original Frank L Baum book, was called 'Sally'"

This would explain your choice in stockings.

It shouldn't shock you that I've actually seen Lost Boys 2.

Heh. You said "re-vamp."

It's very subtle / poorly done, but I believe that the brother and sister are actually supposed to be Michael and Star's kids.

Oh, and the main vampire is played by Kiefer Sutherland's younger half brother. This was supposed to be a clever bit of casting, but he sucks badly.

Really, I think it says a lot about how bad a movie is when I think, "wow, Corey Feldman is the best part of this."

Wiki suggests strongly that they might be Michael and Star's kids (at which point, hurrah for Michael and Star! They died before they ever knew anything about the film!) or might possibly be cousins of Michael and Star. Or something. But definitely related by blood to... er, one of the two of them. Probably.

On the bright side, it may or may not be worth your while knowing that about 2/3 of Repo, the Generic Opera, is _actually_ worse than LB2; but wins my viewing by dint of not loking like it takes itself so seriously and by having Anthony Stuart Head and Sarah Brightman on screen for the other 1/3 of the time. :P

You have to love any sequel that has the main characters from the first movie, who an audience may be emotionally invested in, die off screen years ago in a random car crash.

Although, lord help us, there was a lot of stuff set up for a sequel. Maybe it wasn't a random accident!

There were some deleted scenes / alternate endings on the DVD (and at this point, I don't remember how it actually ended, as opposed to what I saw on the deleted scenes). For example, the other Frog brother (the first one being Feldman's character) is now a vampire. And so is Corey Haim's character, Michael's brother.

Oh, and remind me. Didn't a girl explode after the guy had sex with her?

Corey Haim being a vampire was in the movie, in a scene during the credits. And god, did he look rough!

Kind of but not really. That was the antlers thing - so... when I say 'kind of' I mean 'that is the only teenager in the world to stop a hot nekkid woman from boffing him _twice_, so not technically after he'd had sex with her' and also 'she turned into stone and then exploded into polystyrene shrapnel, so not technically exploded-into-flame exploded'.

But it was still awful. *nodsnods*

Lots of super glue. And duct tape.

Check under her breasts, you'll find scars where they stitched her back together!

Fairly sure I warned you about lost boys 2 already.

You say don't go and see it, is that implying that some mad cinemas have given it a limited release? Coz it came out on DVD months ago.

A film that would have been made better without the random topless scenes. Oh and the biggest problem with this dire movie isn't the movie itself. It's that we've seen it before...
