My Day

It featured two things of note which I wish to record.

1) I spent this morning working at the Greenwich Fan Museum with their conservator, and will now be working there one day a week between 10.30 am and 5 pm (unpaid), with an actual conservator, doing actual fan conservation work.

2) I found out that an old school friend of mine, Amy Rodger, is now the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for East Lothian. I may, one day soon, know a real life MP.

These two things make me feel strangely happy, and convinced that the world is a somehow not unfriendly place.

ps - Amy can read this, so any of your out there with different political views - and I'm looking at my dubiously Tory-minded boyfriend too - be nice! *nods firmly*

Hurrah.

*Insert witty play on words about the many meanings of fan here.*

And you've almost gained a dot in allies!

Whilst my political leanings are probably closest the majority of the time to Lib Dems, I do usually aspire to the view that polititians generally are a corrupt, waste of space, and that clowns could do a better job.

That said, your friend is most likely not a corrupt waste of space (at least not yet) and also I believe that everyone has a responsibility to exercise their democratic right especially in view of both history, and future.

If I had a brain / point... I'd be lethal.

You say 'different political views' like it's a bad thing?

I was a teenage communist. I've never quite adjusted to actually associating with Tories.

I suppose teenage werewolves have difficulty adjusting to hanging out with the forces of good as well, so there's something of a precedent.

I'm v glad that makes you feel strangely happy, Salz! And thank you for asking your other friends to be nice. Many of my friends, including my partner, aren't Lib Dems either. But one reason I'm a liberal isbecause I think it's important that we're all allowed to disagree with each other!

East Lothian is a fab constituency, by the way, and I feel really fortunate to be given the chance to run for it.

Thank you for being so supportive!

I'm actually feeling really really proud of knowing you. I think it's incredibly cool that you're doing something that impressive.

I was mostly joking with the 'be nice' comments. I know no one who actively thinks the Lib Dems are evil, although I do know a fair few people who do have Views (tm) :p

Hi Annwfyn, Mr Chutney here. I have to say that I think I and Mrs Chutney can safely hold a legitimate claim to disliking the Lib Dems, considering our treatment at their hands. Thats not to say there aren't nice Lib Dems, I still do have friends who are in the party, but on the whole there not on my Christmas list. But we do wish Amy good luck and she still is on our Christmas list.
