Dinner at the Savoy
Nov. 14th, 2006 11:20 amIt would cost £55 per person to go to dinner at the Savoy. And if I could find 12 people, with me as the 13th, then we could have Caspar, the carved wooden art deco cat come and join us. For he always joins tables of 13, to stop bad luck from happening.
A private room would be approx £500, which is too much*, but Caspar attends if we just had a normal table in the restaurant.
Would anyone be able to spend £55 on michelin starred, Gordon Ramsey cooked food, with a cool wooden cat in attendance for good luck any time soon?
*hmmmm...suddenly my commitment to jez rises. I could get that as a wedding reception. But would only be allowed 11 guests at the wedding, or Caspar wouldn't come. Must propose romantically soon...

Date: 2006-11-14 01:38 pm (UTC)Is it wrong that I think £55 a head for a meal at the Savoy is cheap?

Date: 2006-11-14 01:46 pm (UTC)With a private room we'd be up to about £100 a head, which is a little bit more pricey. Although very very cool.

Date: 2006-11-14 02:14 pm (UTC)I've heard much tell of Caspar recently from various books I've been flicking through, haven't met or seen him however.
Originally one of the staff was made to sit at table when there were 13 guests, but after Casper was carved (i think he was meant to sit in the lobby or something) he was used and deemed better as he didn't actually eat any of the food and he couldn't gossip about what he'd heard at table =)
