My Birfday
Feb. 1st, 2005 11:53 pmAs some of you lot may know it is my birthday on 7th February. I'm going to be 27, which is ancient and croaky.
Organising a birthday outing has proven difficult, mostly because the ballet that I wanted to see had finished, Cirque du Soleil was sold out, all the hawk sanctuaries I wanted to go and visit are closed during the winter and only open in mid February, and my family were only free on the Saturday before my birthday when they were also celebrating my stepbrother's birthday and I'm a bit too fragile to be able to deal with a joint birthday with anyone who isn't Mum.
Add in to this a healthy dose of Februaryitis, more university work than I thought possible, financial crises, and assorted social dynamic weirdnesses and I had pretty much decided that fate was against me. Utterly. Completely. My birthday was about to be cancelled.
Then fate struck. A plan appears to be coming together, and I might actually be doing Stuff (tm).
First of all - my birthday celebration will mostly be on Sunday 6th February, in the afternoon. In the evening I managed to get hold of 2 tickets to go and see Dralion - Cirque du Soleil - and so I shall vanish with jez. I really really wish I'd been able to get hold of more, but the bloody thing was utterly sold out, for Sunday night is the last performance and I only found these tickets on ebay. However, there are people I'd really like to see and so I think I shall try and do a nice Sunday lunch in London on the Sunday. If you don't want me to decide that we are all going to TGI Fridays for cocktails, then make some suggestions for an alternate venue now!
Monday night I am not playing SLA Industries, but shall be in Reading, and shall probably try and see a few people and have birthday cake in some form on Monday evening. I might try and entice my sisters down from London for that.
And that shall be my birthday.
This is a general and all purpose announcement.
*nods firmly*

When can we expect a Definite Plan?

Date: 2005-02-02 10:45 pm (UTC)Sorry. Didn't mean to assume you and Robert were a single entity. I'm afraid I'm far far too used to being able to nag at people via proxy :p If he can come, it would be lovely. If it is just you I will also be happy to see you.
Definite plan as regards where - hopefully tomorrow some time.
It will be London, meeting at about 1 pm I suspect, however. I'm thinking about meeting in the Leicester Square area and then going hunting for a nice Italian somewhere.

Date: 2005-02-02 10:14 am (UTC)or are you not coming over for the Reading Requiem game on the Saturday.
Re: Aren't you
Date: 2005-02-02 12:45 pm (UTC)_I_ don't know... No one tells me what I'm doing of an evening any more. :P They just occasionally phone up or LJ on the day, going 'aren't you meant to be here in a few hours?' and I stare at the screen/phone in bemusement and go 'guh?'
I'll see where I end up, I figure. :)

Date: 2005-02-03 10:40 am (UTC)On consideration of a variety of situational benefices, may I impose on you for a place to sleep on both Friday night and, if the household with a car attached do not go to London until Sunday, potentially also Saturday night? In return, I am prepared to tidy everything into Piles which may or may not relate to the actual content of what was around that area prior to the tidying, empty the dishwasher into various obscure containers, and supply a moderate amount of food.
*dinna dinna dinna dinna, SteathCat!*

Re: Aren't you
Date: 2005-02-02 12:50 pm (UTC)Adventures of Stealth Cat7th Sea on a Friday night if people are interested as well, if folks can deal with me coming home and drooling until I'm given food. And I am expecting you for Sunday lunch at the very least. If you don't show I may cry. So there. *nods firmly*
Re: Aren't you
Date: 2005-02-03 10:35 am (UTC)Yay StealthCat!
*ahem*
That would be most acceptable; I will arrive, then, on Anthony's doorstep or some variant thereof on Friday night.
;P
Re: Aren't you
Date: 2005-02-03 11:33 am (UTC)I worry sometimes...
"Hmm, wonder if nice axe lady be there. She throw axe! Maybe she show Boris how to throw axe. She have pretty axe!"
