Mutilating helpless animals

Today I take Madoc and Myrddin to the vets.

I'm getting them neutered.

I'm aware that this is a Good Thing (tm), but I'm feeling irrationally guilty.

What a coincidence!

Snowflake has gone to be spayed this morning too! and Nermal has gone to have sone teeth out.

I feel slightly guilty, moreso about Snowflake as she went schizo and had to be chased around the house to get her into the cat basket. Oh dear. She has never been outside of the house before now :-S

lack of kittens is definately for the best even if it does seem a little harsh now!

The worst bit was actually waiting in the vets with them. Someone came in with a rather noisy bull terrier. I don't think my cats have ever seen a dog before, and this thing came in barking and growling at everything. They just went utterly silent, utterly motionless and shivered. They didn't take their eyes off the dog.

I've just had a call from the vets to let me know that it has all gone well, at least, and I can pick them up any time after 5 pm, which is a relief. I've been worrying a little bit all day.

Look on the plus side, neutering isn't nearly as harsh as declawing. yeesh.

Nermal had 7 teeth out and a descale, Snowflake won't come anywhere near me now :-(

Madoc and Myrddin wouldn't come anywhere near me immediately afterwards, but were a bit calmer by the end of the evening and are back to normal now.

Was very guilt inducing tho!

Likewise here - it's taken 2 days for snowflake to trus me again and not hiss everytime I go near her!

I know - I feel really guilty about snowflake too! I just keep telling myself it was for the best!

Better than them spraying and doing other strange things! Mind you, our boy cat has been neutered but still trys to hump things, esp the kitten for some odd reason.

Dont feel guilty, its a reltivly uninvasive procedure for boy cats, I feel guilty when I get girl cats done cos they have a cold tummy for a few weeks.

Don't feel bad, boy cats unneutered can cause trouble and fights, and there is the whole spraying thing. And I'm concerned about that since your cats seem to like me. :| Besides, you won't have to give them the 'talk' if they go off and impregnate some poor young girl cat. :P

Besides, it's a relatively quick and easy procedure, and they should heal quickly. And they'll be clam for a while from the ACE.
