So, after many many rants, threats, and obnoxious letters, the sellers have their desired date of closure. We've signed the papers. We're ready to exchange contracts.

And suddenly they've vanished. They've stopped talking to their estate agent, to their solicitors.

What are they up to now?

Oh, and in a confused way, I appear to have lost height. I've been following the weight watchers diet for the last two weeks and I decided to weigh myself on one of the shopping mall weighing machines. I've used it before, and I've always shown up as 5'7". Last time I weighed myself, two weeks ago, I was rather peturbed to discover I was apparently 5'6" (and .11 of an inch). Today, I was just 5'6".

I'm losing just under an inch a week.

I didn't know that dieting could do this.

Help?

6.11" - 6" = 0.11" difference over a fortnight, not 1" a week ;)

Given that an inch is ~2.5cm, an approximate tenth of an inch is about quarter of a centimetre, that's 2 or 3 millimetres.

Maybe you'd walked a couple of millimetres off your shoes over those two weeks?

As for the 5'7" versus 5'6"-and-a-bit - still not a huge amount, but I'd guess that maybe it was a new machine, or had been re-calibrated, if it had been a while since you last checked yourself.

Interesting phenomenon. What time of day did you measure yourself? Because the human spine does compress during the day, and the difference can be up to an inch. Funny that. You should find a difference if you measure your height in the morning or in the evening.

spine compression like the nice lady said or rather your height naturally varies by on average 19mm over the course of a day as your spine compresses and when you sleep it expands again
