Because I think I am occasionally mopey here, I figured I'd write my list of good things I have in my life today:

  • I had a really nice night out last night with the Institute of Archaeology people. I periodically find Oxford sitting in my mind as a place where I expect to be overworked and slightly lonely. It is therefore a Good Thing to remember that there are people I actually quite like here.

  • I have an extension on my essay until tomorrow, which takes some of the stress away.

  • I get a [profile] pierot today. This is an especially pathetic thing to be this bouncy about, but I've not seen him since Sunday, which is rather a long time for me.

  • I am currently wearing the very nice new top that [profile] melsner sent me for Christmas. He is a very generous boy.

  • My bonsai tree is still alive after nearly a month, and still has green leaves and is looking shiny. This is a definite achievement for me. I'm keeping a living thing going!

  • [profile] ksirafai and I are planning theatre trips and it looks like King Lear is probably going to happen in the last weekend of January, as I can't afford the Northern Regional.

  • My university room is beginning to look quite homely - I've got pictures and a clock that works, and a zebra jez gave me who sits on my windowsil and lets me talk at him occasionally.

  • I still like my hair in the 'long and floppy with fringe' style I had it cut into a while ago.

  • I've got some great friends. [profile] wildrogue gets a special mention for sending me text messages in which she and I can both bitch about our university work.

  • The sun is shining today

I know they are all little things, but it's enough.

No - I don't think I did get it....

...and I've just found it. Sorry. My hotmail apparently thought you were sending me junk mail! *looks apologetic* You're now added to my safe list and I've replied to your mail.

We should start a happy meme ;). I'm tired of everyone bitching.

Sorry we're not going to see you in a few weeks :(, another one off the list of Nice People I Don't See Very Often. I'm really hoping to do a mini weekend in London sometime soon. Maybe over Easter?

That would be fantastic. Oh - if you're down in the two weeks after March 16th you can view it as visiting the invalid. I'll be on convalescent time then. It would be fantastic to see you and Phil whenever you can make it, tho.

Oooh

We should bring 'Sally feel better things.' Easter is in March this year, isn't it? You have to be an occultist astronomer to know without picking up damn calendar. (Grumbles about ecclesiastical holidays..)

Hmmm. HMMMMM!

*suspects Ginnie might be an occultist astronomer*

Do you have a laundry list as well?

Couldn't find any Hamlet, huh?

a zebra jez gave me who sits on my windowsil and lets me talk at him occasionally.

That describes many people in Sally's life. :p

Is king lear really going to be cheaper than the northern regional?

The plot's way better.

well I'm not suggesting going to the regional instead, just wondering if it was actually because king lear was cheaper or if it was just the better option.

Jez can't be persuaded to take me to the Northern Regional as a sign of affection. ;)

You know that there is a lesser known commandment - sometimes known as the 37th commandment - which says 'thou shalt not use trendy but incorrect spellings, for it shall bring down a fierce and terribly vengeance upon thee'.

In fact, I believe there is a special circle in hell, detailed in one of the lost volumes of Dante's inferno, which speaks of 'all those who have committed language crime, who have spelled 'cool' as 'kewl', and tried to use 'boi' where 'boy' would have been far more appropriate hang endlessly over a lake of flames'.

It's one of my favourite passages in the book.

OK...I might possibly be making some of this up, and maybe going to my own dribblingly insane place, but I that is not entirely the point...

I just thought it would be fun to say that. Though I have to say that I expected Ginnie to rise to it first.

I'm at work. I can't haunt the net like some people.

;P

Nevertheless, you will be flayed alive at some point in time should you care to continue referring to people in such a careless manner. ;)

Flayed alive is for the Schismatics, isn't it? Not the abusers of Net speak?

There's a difference?

Anyone who doesn't speak the anguage is probably a schismatic as well; and why waste a fun event? ;)

But...

On a completely unrelated note, (and because I am bored and sick of work), when would be a good time for me and [livejournal.com profile] red_phil to come and visit a Sally? Not in the next month or so, but am planning on taking a bit of time off work March/April ish and venturing southwards.

Oooh...any time would be good to see you. My term at Oxford finishes the weekend of March 12th, and then I'm in hospital on March 16-18th, and so then and the week immediately afterwards won't make me much fun. However, any other time - just let me know and I'll get the time off to spend with you guys.

Cool. Will poke the Phil and see what he thinks. I think he wants to do it as a bike trip, so April would probably be better than March if that's the case, but I'm not convinced my poor Zombike is going to be up to it.

That reminds me, I never did say this the last couple of times I saw you, the hair does look good.
