Good things
Jan. 19th, 2005 10:18 amBecause I think I am occasionally mopey here, I figured I'd write my list of good things I have in my life today:
I know they are all little things, but it's enough.
- I had a really nice night out last night with the Institute of Archaeology people. I periodically find Oxford sitting in my mind as a place where I expect to be overworked and slightly lonely. It is therefore a Good Thing to remember that there are people I actually quite like here.
- I have an extension on my essay until tomorrow, which takes some of the stress away.
- I get a
pierot today. This is an especially pathetic thing to be this bouncy about, but I've not seen him since Sunday, which is rather a long time for me. - I am currently wearing the very nice new top that
melsner sent me for Christmas. He is a very generous boy. - My bonsai tree is still alive after nearly a month, and still has green leaves and is looking shiny. This is a definite achievement for me. I'm keeping a living thing going!
ksirafai and I are planning theatre trips and it looks like King Lear is probably going to happen in the last weekend of January, as I can't afford the Northern Regional.- My university room is beginning to look quite homely - I've got pictures and a clock that works, and a zebra jez gave me who sits on my windowsil and lets me talk at him occasionally.
- I still like my hair in the 'long and floppy with fringe' style I had it cut into a while ago.
- I've got some great friends.
wildrogue gets a special mention for sending me text messages in which she and I can both bitch about our university work. - The sun is shining today
I know they are all little things, but it's enough.

Date: 2005-01-19 10:34 am (UTC)Sorry we're not going to see you in a few weeks :(, another one off the list of Nice People I Don't See Very Often. I'm really hoping to do a mini weekend in London sometime soon. Maybe over Easter?

Date: 2005-01-19 10:49 am (UTC)In fact, I believe there is a special circle in hell, detailed in one of the lost volumes of Dante's inferno, which speaks of 'all those who have committed language crime, who have spelled 'cool' as 'kewl', and tried to use 'boi' where 'boy' would have been far more appropriate hang endlessly over a lake of flames'.
It's one of my favourite passages in the book.
OK...I might possibly be making some of this up, and maybe going to my own dribblingly insane place, but I that is not entirely the point...

Nevertheless, you will be flayed alive at some point in time should you care to continue referring to people in such a careless manner. ;)
