Good things...
Apr. 4th, 2006 04:52 pmToday I decided that I was going to write.
I wasn't going to write downtimes, I wasn't going to write fanfic, I wasn't going to write character stories.
I was going to write.
I was going to take an idea from my head that had nothing to do with any kind of role playing, or film, or previously written novel. I would find an original idea, and I would turn it into original prose. And maybe it wouldn't be good, and maybe it wouldn't be publishable, but it would be mine. All mine. And I would try and write a 8000 word first chapter over the next week, preferably using the exact same techniques I used to use to write my university essays. It's an experiment thing.
So far today I've produced 2000 words and they aren't too bad. They are also all entirely mine!
I feel oddly satisfied. It also appears that writing a historical thriller about an Anglo-Saxon woman (possibly) falsely accused of murder in 7th c. East Anglia is playing to my strengths. I am happy.
I have also paid off the water bill, sorted out visas for Australia for myself and
pierot, changed the cat litter, fed the cats, played with the cats, and chatted to Christa. So far today (while lazy) is going quite well. I'm also feeling oddly psychologically buoyed by having actually managed to work yesterday in actual paid employment (then the bitch receptionist I was covering for got better, damn her), and having had a spectacular night out last night for
molez's birthday. So. That makes today a good day, then.
