I am now booked into the Manor Hospital in Oxford for a two night stay, starting on March 16th.

I am not allowed to take the contraceptive pill for four weeks beforehand, and will need at least two weeks of convalescence afterwards. I've also never stayed overnight in hospital before. I'm petrified of that. I've been slightly scared of hospitals ever since Mum got sick.

But it's happening.

In the same post I also got a London Congestion Charge Penalty Notice for a charge that I paid. Argh! Am currently trying to get a bank statement which says that I paid them so I can shout. Money really really does hate me.

So. A bit of news for a Tuesday morning.

You will be fine. That, and it's two months away.

Shall we start organising Interesting Stuff To Do before and after, as distraction and incentive in one? :)

I approve of that idea utterly. I just wrote you a private LJ on that topic actually - an assortment of shows and where to find them.

*nods happily* then we shall see how cultured and civilised and entertained we can be in an attempt to distract you from the joys of losing a stone or so overnight. :P

Oh..?

Would you and your lady wife care to join us if we do something of the sort? :)

From: [identity profile] twicedead.livejournal.com
Well, we already have tickets for that, it's my birthday treat, though apparently I'm not allowed to bungee jump off the royal circle screaming "Ewan I love you and want your babies"...

... that's Jo's job.

Gotcha.

If we hear any strange news stories about flying Australians, we'll bear it in mind. ;)

Good luck with the surgery babe, it must be absolutely terrifying for you but I'm sure it will be worth it

I'm sure all will go well hon.
Maybe you can ask the hospital if someone is allowed to stay over with you.
Some hospitals allow that.

And think about how much better you'll feel after you've healed up and stuff :)

Super Powers

Kal El is kryptonian, but since he grew up on Earth (a world with less gravity), he has super powers.

It's my theory that after the Sally has her surgery, she will be able to make great leaps in a single bound. It's like you've spent the last decade or so working out with heavy weights. Afterwards, you'll like fly and stuff.

Superman had this thing about the colour of the sun as well, though, didn't he?

I'm not sure how good Sally is with utilising the sun's Strange Occult Energy to gain super powers. :P

Could be worse. She could be unable to deal with the colour yellow.

Surely that is obvious? Sally would always turn up at least half an hour after the crime had been committed and the criminals had escaped. This crippling weakness is why she is not currently a superhero.

No, no, it still works... As we all know, the English never actually see the sun because of all the rain, fog and smog.

So, she needs both the surgery and a visit to a far away, primitive land with sunlight, where she be like unto a god to the superstitious and less developed natives.

Ah hah! She was muttering vaguely (unless I heard wrong, or went mad and dreamt it - these are all possible) that she'd been in the same country for too long... :P

Hm.

Summer, y'say...

:)

Yes. Summer. When the glowing orb is in the sky and you don't have to wear as many coats at once.

Sallies tend to be roaming creatures.

Yeah, I think we had one of them.

Now all we need is a decent random Cheap Flight Someplace. Anywhere interesting about? :P

Superman doesn't utilise the sun's strange occult energy, he metabolises the radiation in a different way. As a matter of fact, he's supremely vulnerable to magic.

SOME of us take the time and effort to keep up interests in BOTH worlds, thank you very much.
Although to be fair, my main interest is Marvel mutants. Go on - ask me something! Challenge Mattica!

Name all people known to have been used by the Weapon X programme;

Explain why (with examples) Omega Red is just embarrassing now.

I've spent nights in hospitals, and they're about as pleasant as you might expect. Take some nice familiar book - the kind that gives you as much comfort by existing as it does from reading.

Then surf Figleaves for 32D bras, and take happiness from all the really nice ones you'll be able to wear now :)

From: [identity profile] puddingcat.livejournal.com
Well, probably 32F bras, if my experience is usual... A trip to Bravissimo or R&P is *definitely* recommended, as surgeons' ideas about cup size is about as accurate as Marks's.

Having the underwires lie flat against one's sternum is a strange feeling at first. But it does create an amazing Sweater Girl silhouette :)

I'll being thinking of you and be empathising lots, I'm the same bra size as you and have also been in an extended hospital stay. I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end but can completely understand the apprehension.

Make sure people bring you nice food as hospital food is awful at the best of times. I would have killed for a good ham salad roll whilst I was in :)

Thinking of all the lovely matching underwear from normal shops and being able to wear fitted dresses that fit your bust and your waist/hips at the same time! Being able to look down and see your feet without leaning forward.. the list is endless :)
