The curse of the sickie!

I was meant to have a meeting with my supervisor today. I arranged it, planned it, and then last night had a bout of patheticness and e mailed her claiming sickness so I could spend pierot's birthday with him, instead of in Oxford.

I planned many nice things. I planned breakfast in bed for him, and presents, and lots of affection.

I forgot one thing.

THE CURSE OF THE SICKIE.

It's like a rule with me. The minute I falsely claim to be ill, the symptoms begin. I start feeling crappy. My temperature rises. Right now I've got a sore throat, am slightly giddy, have a head like a lump of lead and a temperature of around 100 degrees (fahrenheit).

I've tried telling myself it is psychosomatic.

My body disagrees.

It's one of those weird 'instant karma' things, I think, where if you claim something is wrong to get sympathy, that thing WILL go wrong.

Damnation and tarnation.

Random puzzled thought - I dreamed of him last night. It was very strange and rather funny, but thats about all I remember. Wish him happy birthday.

I'm suffering from a similar thing. I made the mistake of saying to Gordon yesterday that this was the first New Year for about four years that I haven't started with a cold or chest infection. Today - my first day back at work after a couple of weeks of special leave - I can feel something starting and I'm wheezy.
