*does the happy dance*

Wow.
I may be inordinately happy.
I have an update in the saga of my poor clio. There is an ending, and it is a happy one.
Last night my Dad came out to try and help me get a new battery into my clio. He rapidly discovered that he couldn't get the old battery out as it had been screwed to the mainframe of the car. He tried unscrewing it, but couldn't get it to shift with any of the tools he had.
An eight year old child who was passing stood around and offered helpful suggestions.
Dad finally gave in and suggested I call the nice people at Diamond insurance again and see if a proper mechanic could come out. As yesterday had been a long and manic day I decided to not call them that night, but instead went home (Reading home) and had bangers and mash with
imnotagoth,
wildrogue,
isalani and
pierot. Oh, and raspberry pavlova afterwards. Did you guys know that according to the nutritional information on the side of a shop bought raspberry pavlova, such wonderous dessert contains only 8% fat. That makes it diet food. We watched DVDs, and
melsner called which was great as well.
At the end of the night there was bed and sleep and I got up this morning and called Diamond.
As another side note - Diamond are great. Every time I've rung they've got a mechanic out to me in under an hour. Much credit to them.
But anyway...
The mechanic arrived at about 10 am this morning. He took a look at my car, and tried to get the old battery out. He couldn't. It was screwed to the mainframe and none of the tools he had were working on it.
It was at about this point that my heart began to sink. I'd had the car off the road since Sunday. I didn't know how much a garage was going to cost and I really panicked when the car mechanic said that the only thing he could think to do was get my car on the back of his recovery truck and drive it to the nearest garage. I texted a couple of people and told them to not rely on me offering lifts any time soon.
It got lifted onto the back of a truck, and driven to a garage. I sat, fidgeting, in the passenger seat of the recovery truck. First garage were busy and couldn't fit me in today. We drove onwards. Second garage...(here is where the happy ending starts)....said that they could look at it straight away.
A boy with black hair came out and looked at my car. He got a large box of tools. They gave me a copy of 'inside soap' to read while I waited and ten minutes later my car had a new battery. It was working. Perfectly. As well as that they only charged me £5 because I had brought my own new battery with me and it had only taken their mechanic a few minutes.
And this is the happy ending. My clio is back. It's fine. The car I've had since I was 17 is up and running and as I like my car more than I like a lot of people in the world, that makes me happy.
Go me!
I feel this bodes well for the weekend.
