What A Girl Wants

I've just been watching 'What a Girl Wants' on TV. I think I just found a new contender for Worst Film Ever.

It features a good hearted American girl who discovers she's actually the daughter of a British aristocrat and is sent over to England to Rediscover Her Rightful Place.

Characters say things such as "I hope you aren't impressed with that commoner". The press swarm over her, because the daughter of Lord Dashwood is always in the public eye, and it would be a scandal if she were found canoodling with the rather clean cut love interest she's given. Colin Firth looks like a man who lost a rather nasty bet with his agent.

I've just given up on it. I couldn't take the scenes set at the Henley Regatta.

I never thought I'd see the day when I began to herald Four Weddings and a Funeral as a sound depiction of English social living.
