God, I'm aching today. Last night, whilst coming home from work, I slipped on the top step of the bus and slid from the top floor to the bottom floor. It was quite scary, actually. I couldn't get up for a moment afterwards - winded and in shock, I think - and I was really shaky when I did get up. I'm OK now, although I ache more than I thought possible - my hip, my arm and my ribs are just solid swollen masses of bruise.
In good news, the earache has subsided a bit, but I am feeling remarkably delicate.
In other news, I re-activated my WoW account last night so my lvl 62 (shhhh...yes...I know it's shameful) rogue could go and help
pierot level a dwarf. We both remembered why we rarely do this. It was kind of comic listening to us in the front room.
"No...no....Sally....not there...here...I'm DYING!"
"Oh. Yes. Sorry. Where are you again? Hang on. Sorry. Got distracted. Which nagah?"
"THE ONE KILLING ME?"
"Which one is that again?"
I truly am the worst computer gamer in history. I did collect some cursed tokens in Outlands for a very focused military type man. It seemed like an inoffensive thing to do, although I've had my concerns about questgivers ever since the 'I'm just a poor old man living by a graveyard who wants some...sewing supplies. For my zombie. Did I say zombie? I meant socks...' incident. You can never trust those types.
And as a note, is it horribly telling that the Americans blow up stuff to celebrate gaining their independence, freedom, a constitution etc and we blow up stuff to celebrate the religious persecution of Catholics? It's something that worries me every year.

Arnica preparations used topically have been demonstrated to act as an anti-inflammatory and assist normal healing processes by facilitating transport of blood and fluid accumulations through a dilating action of subcutaneous blood capillaries (Holist Nurse Pract, 2008, 22(4):237-239).

Date: 2010-11-06 10:27 am (UTC)Then again, I recommend this combination for anything :)
I finally got my DDO characters back this week; with the move from the EU to US servers, I haven't seen them in over two months. My first raid was kind of embarrassing. Halfway through I realised that I didn't actually have a Neutralize Poison item, that not only could I not cast the spell while raging but that I couldn't use clickies either, and that, oh yes, I was dead.
All good fun :)

Date: 2010-11-06 10:31 am (UTC)I think Guy Fawkes night has drifted from its origins - certainly the only reason I know about it is because we were taught in schools, and the version I got taught made a point of showing two sides of the same thing. I sincerely doubt that out there last night people were dancing around a bonfire chanting "Burn, Catholics, burn! Burn, Catholics, burn!"*, but that's just me.
*I'm sure there were some, but they're a distinct minority, and were probably wiccan and therefore are wrong anyway.

Date: 2010-11-06 12:51 pm (UTC)But I would suggest that I don't think the night is about celebrating the persecution of Catholics, its about celebrating the thwarting of a terrorist plot by religious extremists which would have destroyed the Monarchy and the Parliamentary system.
Now granted at the time of its creation it would have been rather anti-catholic, just as say if Americans developed a similar celebration every 09/11 burning an effigy of Bin Laden or Mohammed, would probably be highly islamophobic. But I believe its fitted into the culture of the country and the liberal tendencies of Britain have pruned away the Anti-Papist bits and made it more culturally neutral, essentially fitting it into the slot of an autumnal celebration of which many of the older ones have become culturally lost and things like Halloween and Bon Fire night have taken their place and become more culturally modernised/commercialised - which I think is a good thing, I also believe that they are probably more celebrated by the public than say the May Bank Holidays and so probably should gain some sort of holiday status in the calander - akin to the other great commercialfests of Christmas and Easter.
