Moving

I'm feeling odd.

Today I finally move the last bits of my stuff out of Chez Isalani, to either Oxford or Lambourn or London. Jez is moving out, [profile] wildrogue and [profile] imnotagoth are moving in, and that phase of my life will have finished.

I've got various slightly dippy-hippy views on houses, and places. To my mind there are nice houses, and nice places and safe places and Anthony's house has always been all three. It's a solid little red brick house, close to the cinema and warm in cold weather. [profile] isalani has always been a good flatmate/landlord, and it's the place I moved to when [profile] pierot and I had just got together and jez was still theoretically just staying with me for a couple of days while his lungs cleared. It's the place I lived while I was commuting to Wantage all of last summer, and it's the place I was staying at while getting to know Elle and Scott and Anthony, who I never really knew before I moved to Reading.

There's a lot of memories and a lot of good memories associated with this house.

I hope Elle and Scott are happy here. I think they will be.

As well as the move, I'm also in a slightly odd mood because I am now two weeks and one day away from going into hospital.

I saw my sister yesterday at my Dad's birthday lunch (which was great) and she was asking me about whether I had worked out what I needed to buy for going into hospital, did I have slippers...and I realised how close it was. How the practical details needed to be worked out. How it was real and happening soon. That was strange and a bit scary. I'm now trying to scribble down a list of 'stuff I need to do' between now and then, including possibly buying slippers. Helen (li'l sis) thinks you need slippers to go into hospital. Do you think it would be silly to take this opportunity to rediscover my childhood and try and get a pair of the oversized animal shape slippers?

Before I worry people, I'm not in a state of deep anxiety and I did have a good weekend. [profile] wildrogue's party was great and I learned the valuable life lesson that if you have bad luck with women - just claim to be a dolphin trainer. Chicks love a dolphin trainer. I managed to bake a birthday cake and I got to see a [profile] riksowden at the Oxford game which was wonderous. I've not seen him in FAR too long. Life is good. Life will be good. It'll just change soon.

I'll just remind myself that change can be good.

Sweety, in order to rediscover something, don't you have to leave it first? :P

Everyone should send you Kate Beckinsale supernatural adventure movies for your stay in the hospital.

That will completely eclipse the pain and stress from being in the hospital.

She's right, you do need slippers to go into hospital. I don't own any and haven't for many years, and will now have to buy some before I go back into hospital. And I think the sillier the slippers you get, the better. :)

I suspect that getting silly animal slippers may be one of the few bits of this entire process which could be referred to as 'fun' and should therefore be indulged thoroughly! :p

Exactly. And so I shall be going in search of ridiculous slippers at the weekend. :)

Get slippers. Get books and silly girly magazines and your favourite fruit juice and some chocolate (for the bits where you are allowed/able to eat it) and some music to listen to. And lots of other things. And let us know if we can send you cards and so on.
