The good, the bad and the curious

*yawns*
I'm feeling really groggy this morning. I'm fairly sure this came from not having my mobile by the bed, thus leaving me with no idea what time it was. I then neurotically woke up when the sun came up, panicked I was about to oversleep, and then found out it was only 7 am and I was wide awake.
As
pierot and I got in from ZG last night after midnight, this was maybe foolish.
I'm sitting here today trying to do my chemistry and struggling rather.
I don't think I'm very well suited to correspondance courses in many ways, especially in a discipline I've not done since I was sixteen years old. I find it hard not having anyone to talk to, if just to bounce ideas, or ask for clarification on a question. I don't much like the teaching method of 'here are the course books. Now answer these questions having read the chapter', although of course there is little else that can be done.
I wonder if I would have done better with evening classes or something.
*sighs*
I fear I may be about to face academic failure for the first time since that rather nasty chemistry test I flunked in 1992. On the plus side my sketch book is looking quite good, and I hope I may soon have enough decent pieces to send off my application to art school for my conservation course.
My weekend, by the way, was very pleasant. Saturday was spent in a combination of lunch with
bringeroflight,
molez and
pierot, CCG games in the form of L5R with
molez and then red wine and DVDs with
ksirafai,
pierot and
molez. Sunday was all rpg type stuff, which was intense, but very very tiring.
I'm feeling mildly amazed by how the games went, particularly garou which shifted from having been a really quiet and stable game (probably too quiet, to be honest) to the Fenrir pack chosing to make a suicidal charge at a technocracy installation (to be fair, I'm told the technocracy in London are now mostly out of HIT marks, and there's a man in white who was last heard screaming 'I've got a dead werewolf still clamped around my neck! I'm bleeding! Someone get me a medic now!), the cubs being evacuated by moon bridge, and the rest of the Sept preparing to make a last great stand stylee defense of the caern. It was an incredible game, and much much kudos to
imnotagoth,
ksirafai and
bringeroflight for chosing the incredibly stylish route for their characters, over the sensible.
The Cam-Anarch game was also a real change in gears from usual. The set up was that it was the court of Oxford, instead of London, with
imagesandwords playing a fantastic Prince of Oxford.
bouncyinsomniac was a goddess as usual with set dressing - we had flowers all over the place this time - and it was a much more solemn and traditional court. I was NPC'ing the harpy of Oxford - Firinne Devon - who was exceptionally fun to play. It was really nice to be involved a lot more - Laurie is very mad and very out of it - and I wound up working out a background for her.
pierot commented on the way home as well that she was really quite viable as a potential PC - she's not silly gen (tho she would require donations). I'm still vaguely pondering this. I think for the moment I will stick to my Laurie-thing, but if she goes down soon I might try and snaffle the Toreador bird from Oxford as my very own.
And now, on to the rest of today. I'll be heading out to meet
imagesandwords for a little while, and then spending this evening doing more chemistry.
*sighs*
It isn't that I don't find the chemistry interesting. Right now, it's that I just don't understand the goddamn questions!
*whimper to fade*
