This is just quite cute. The animation is also quite nice and it's got a bit of plot which I really like.

God, I'm aching today. Last night, whilst coming home from work, I slipped on the top step of the bus and slid from the top floor to the bottom floor. It was quite scary, actually. I couldn't get up for a moment afterwards - winded and in shock, I think - and I was really shaky when I did get up. I'm OK now, although I ache more than I thought possible - my hip, my arm and my ribs are just solid swollen masses of bruise.

In good news, the earache has subsided a bit, but I am feeling remarkably delicate.

In other news, I re-activated my WoW account last night so my lvl 62 (shhhh...yes...I know it's shameful) rogue could go and help [profile] pierot level a dwarf. We both remembered why we rarely do this. It was kind of comic listening to us in the front room.

"No...no....Sally....not there...here...I'm DYING!"

"Oh. Yes. Sorry. Where are you again? Hang on. Sorry. Got distracted. Which nagah?"

"THE ONE KILLING ME?"

"Which one is that again?"

I truly am the worst computer gamer in history. I did collect some cursed tokens in Outlands for a very focused military type man. It seemed like an inoffensive thing to do, although I've had my concerns about questgivers ever since the 'I'm just a poor old man living by a graveyard who wants some...sewing supplies. For my zombie. Did I say zombie? I meant socks...' incident. You can never trust those types.

And as a note, is it horribly telling that the Americans blow up stuff to celebrate gaining their independence, freedom, a constitution etc and we blow up stuff to celebrate the religious persecution of Catholics? It's something that worries me every year.

So, whilst being at home sick, I've been playing a chunk of World of Warcraft.* And so this morning I found myself running happily across Alterac Valley, on a murderous rampage, when ahead of me I saw a Night Elf. His name was 'EdwardCullen'. His Guild name, which was just beneath that, was 'Gives Love A Bad Name'.

Maybe I'm a basic creature, but that made me laugh out loud.

*And this has been going very well lately. I've hit level 60, I've got my first flying mount, I got a broomstick and a shiny title from the Hallow's End quests and I discovered that I actually quite like the PvP battlegrounds which was a mild surprise to me, but a good one.

This is a tiny crimson whelpling.

I just spent four days, on and off, farming Crimson, Red and Flamesnorting Whelps in the Wetlands to get one.

And now it is mine.

This makes me ridiculously cheerful.

  • I have a new LJ icon! This pic was taken by the lovely [profile] reindeerflotila on New Year's Eve, up in Hatfield.

The full size picture, without the cropping and photoshopping, is here, lurking beneath the LJ cut )

There's an [personal profile] adze in the background too.

  • I appear to be wearing conventional perfume. This is strange and peculiar, for I don't normally like it. [profile] pierot's mother gave me a bottle of Poison, by Christian Dior, for Christmas, and it actually seems to smell quite nice on me. This is strange, peculiar, and I feel strangely guilty about it. I am cheating on my BPAL!

This has, however, made me mildly curious. I know I have a lot of BPAL whore on my flist, but do people wear other perfumes? I mean conventional perfumes - Chanel No 5 and the ilk? And if so, which ones?

  • I know that I have a collection of geeks on my friends list. This does, of course, include a number of people who play *hiss* World of Warcraft. As many may know, I too waste my time on this particularly crack-like computer game, after being injected with my first fix by the ever dubious [profile] pierot, who wanted to be able to scream "what the hell is this moron doing in the Outlands? And why is the mage trying to tank for me? Who's doing DPS?" without me staring at him blankly.

As a result, I have a selection of Warcraft characters. My favourite is my Gnome Rogue (who is nearly level 30 now), but I've got a couple of others, including two which I quite like, but who's names I really dislike.

My question to the Warcraft geeks out there is "is it really worth spending £12 to re-name the two characters who's names bug me, when neither of them is my primary character?" and "if it is, can anyone help me come up with a name for an Undead Warlock who looks a bit like a voodoo priestess, and a rather pretty Drenai Hunter?"

  • I have a new book! I spent money, foolishly and frivolously, on amazon.co.uk, and now have a book on medieval hunting. The really sad reason for this purchase? My latest piece of tat original prose (I'm adding to Sally's Collection Of Unpublishable Novels) has just hit 10,000 words, and is set in a pseudo-medieval fantasy world. I need to know more about medieval hunting for the next 5000 words. I also need to know more about side saddle riding, and am wondering if there's any way I could somehow find my way to getting a side saddle riding lesson in the UK, but suspect this may be me being unnecessarily obssessive.

  • I need to go skating soon, especially as I got ice skates from [profile] pierot for Christmas. Right now I know this weekend is right out, due to crazy levels of larp commitment, but what about the second Saturday in January? I know that [profile] wildrogue and [profile] molez are provisionally up for it. Are you guys still free? And who else would like to come along? I promise, I'm not very good. I did skating classes when I was a kid, but I don't think I've skated properly since I was about ten or eleven, so it'll be hideously awkward all round.

    Anyone?

  • I have new sneakers from New Look. They are black canvas, covered in many brightly coloured stars, with white rubber toes - they're like converse trainers with more stars. They were £8, and look deeply cheerful on my feet.

  • I spent this morning running around in pixelated world, collecting small imaginary pets. Or, to be more precise, I now have two new shiney pets in World of Warcraft. I have a chicken and a rabbit. I know this is sad, but strangely, I can live with that.

  • I have been wearing a gorgeous, edible scent all day. I am wearing 'Jack', by the Black Phoenix Alchemy Laboratory, and it smells of pumpkins, butterscotch, and warm autumn nights. I'm not sure what I can use the scent for - it's not a sexy evening scent, or a summery afternoon scent, or a comforting 'cuddle me' scent - but it's nice and it makes me feel all warm inside.

  • I got to chat to my li'l sis for an hour on the phone today, which was lovely, and I found out that my not-quite-brother-in-law is beginning to get interviews for proper 3D modelling work. This is fab, for he is very talented, very hard working, and really deserves it.

  • I have a brand new DVD - Blood & Chocolate - which is the film adaption of one of my favourite books. Maybe it will be a thing of awful and hideousness, but right now I'm still in that stage where I can have Hope (tm).

What are your happy thoughts for the weekend?

Those of you who have spoken to me in person of late will know why this is a big deal.

I killed ten stonesplinter troggs!

As an explanation, I've been on a quest in World of Warcraft for about a week. I have to kill ten stonesplinter troggs, and ten stonesplinter scouts. For a week, I've been going to the valley where they live, running in, killing maybe one of them, and then dying. Over, and over, and over again.

I wound up getting so fed up that I left the lands of the dwarves and gnomes (again, some may realise what a great step this was for me - me who said "I just don't like Tall People. Why don't they stay in their own lands, and leave me alone with my personages of a proper height?"), and travelled to the Land of Tall. In Elwyn Forest I killed kobolds (and wept as I did it) in order to build up xp. I travelled to Westfall, and battled with bandits, until I collected more levels.

And finally, I travelled back to Loch Modan. I went back to that damn valley, with my new level 13 gnome (shut up! All of you! Level 13 is a big deal for me!. I normally only play for half an hour per day, in between other things) and I slaughtered the stonesplinter troggs! I killed ten of them! And ten of their scouts. I only died once, and that was trying to get away!

This makes me happy.

What makes me almost as happy is the hideous clash of colours I now have on my gnome. I have pink hair, a red shirt, a yellow cape, and purple trousers. Can life get any better than this?

I'm not entirely sure how to say this...

*coughs and shuffles nervously*

Erm. I just got a World of Warcraft account. [profile] pierot made me do it. I'm playing a gnome rogue called 'Ravi' (it was the closet thing to kobold available to play in the Alliance) on the Bronzebeard server.

I have so far committed some hideous acts against animal welfare by slaughtering a large number of wolves (at least they don't seem to be an endangered species here), and am now indulging in some quite nasty racially motivated attacks and am slaughtering Rockjaw Troggs right left and centre. They've done nothing to me, and yet I kill them!

[profile] pierot and [profile] molez say I'm not really getting into the spirit of World of Warcraft, which is just to go and kill some shit. I may not be one of nature's hack and slash killers.

However, I am currently on World of Warcraft. I think this means that people may talk to me there if they wish to kill stuff.

In more interesting news, I am also planning to order more perfume from America soon...

*looks at the above sentence*

Oh dear...

That's not a very WoW player thing to say, right?
