Today I am vexed with myself, for I finally got around to uploading all the lovely pictures I've been taking for the [profile] day_on_earth community and failing to put up there in time.

I am, however, putting some of them up here. I figure it's maybe of interest to some who would like to see what my world looks like.

An interesting shot of Earl's Court - taken by jez or Ginnie as we drove out of London to go see Andy last week )

Greenwich on Saturday - taken by me while shopping for my little sister's birthday present )

And finally...

A rather photoshopped pic of Myrddin, looking particularly like a children's book illustration )

On a more personal note, I had a lovely birthday - many many thanks to everyone who e mailed or sent other greetings to me. Twas muchly appreciated. I am still in a very happy and mellow mood today.

And thanks to my youngest sister, I have a toaster.

This makes me happy.

I appear to be in a much more bouncy mood about my birthday than normal. I'm not a birthday person at all, but this year it appears to be coming together. I got glorious birthday cake from [profile] wildrogue on Sunday, and the entire ZG crew singing me happy birthday, I got my birthday presents from [profile] pierot at midnight last night (as he'd be asleep when I left for my morning seminar) and they are just perfect* and when I came downstairs this morning I found out that [profile] ksirafai had strung up a 'happy birthday' banner in the living room. I also have presents from her lurking, which I'm about to open.

This makes me very happy and bouncy. The world is a good place

Today I have a museology seminar, a science lecture, and an evening lecture on conservation, then I'm going out for pancakes with my family and flatmates. It's not a big birthday celebration, but I think I like my birthday that way.

I really am in a very good mood today.

Update: Squeeee! I got a fluffy pink scarf, nice warm gloves and a red shawl from [profile] ksirafai. I LIKE shawls.

*A gorgeous wooden artist's carry box**, the pirateology book, which I'm saving for our second born child (the first born is being cut up into small slices and given out to all the people it's been traded away to over the years) in order to help him/her with his/her pirate training** and the DVDs of the animated Shakespeare series that the BBC did a while ago.

** Pictures lurk beneath )

***I decided a while ago that one day jez and I would have a child. This child would be named 'Morgan', whatever the gender, and trained from birth to be a pirate, as there just aren't enough pirates in the world.

I have good friends.

On Tuesday [profile] ksirafai, [profile] molez, [profile] wyldcard and [profile] castorlion met me after work in Haagen Daazs for ice cream. And lo! There was an amazing chocolate fondue with many lovely things to dip in it. [profile] pierot dashed across London after work, and gave me gifts and joined us briefly for ice cream, before we all headed on to see 'Munich', because nothing says 'happy birthday' like sombre Jewish music and a film about the impact righteous vengeance can have upon the soul.

I actually rather enjoyed it.

Then today [profile] ksirafai, [personal profile] bringeroflight, [profile] castorlion, [profile] castorpollux23, [profile] imnotagoth, [profile] wildrogue, [profile] molez, [profile] pierot, [profile] bouncyinsomniac, [profile] portilis, and [profile] wyldcard all came to the Savoy for tea with me. We ate epic quantities of cake, sandwiches, and scones, and it was wonderful.

My birthday, this year, seems to have been a success.

I am content!
