It's that time of year.

Who wants a Christmas card from me? You need to give me your name and address here or via email and a card shall be yours!

Eeeeee! I just had the most feathery stocking ever from [profile] pierot. I got feather earrings, and feathers for my hair and also a miniature hedgehog which isn't feathers but is awesome.

In turn, I foolishly gave him a ruler in his stocking which has lead to him cackling 'that's the way to do it' as he beats me repeatedly. I can't help but feel this may have been an error of judgement on my part.

Next, breakfast, more presents, and then over to [profile] ksirafai for Christmas dinner, alcohol and wonderful people. This is shaping up to be an awesome Christmas.
annwfyn: (seasonal - christmas (muppets))

Observe Madoc trying to defeat the baubles on the Christmas tree.

I'm now awake and waiting for [profile] pierot to wake up so I can open my stocking.

Happy Christmas everyone.

I know it's early, but who wants a Christmas card?

If you do, comment below with your name and address and I'll try and get something in the post to you.

Oh goodness.

I always forget how amazingly awesome [community profile] holiday_wishes is.

I posted my list this morning (it is here if you are interested), and already I am feeling vastly vastly better about Christmas, and about humanity in general. It kinda gives me a weird sort of hopefulness.

I was wondering if anyone else on the comm would let me know when they post their wishlists so I can go and look at them. It would be awesome.

In addition, I shall be trying to do Christmas cards this year. If you would like one from me, please leave your name and address in the comments section to this entry (comments are screened) and I shall see what I can do, even if you are foreign. I know it's still November, but sadly my own incompetence plus the postal service compels me to start this early.

And in the interim, I shall keep feeling positive and trying to hold onto this feeling, even though the skies are grey and my museum is cold.

So.

We have now opened stockings. Highlights of my stocking included a bookmark from a GinnieElf which told me that I was a bit of a princess (like we didn't know that already!), red and black stripey knee high socks from JezElf, more glitter than anyone has a right to and what looks like half my own weight in chocolate.

We have had breakfast, which featured scrambled egg and smoked salmon and croissant, and made me feel very fat in a very happy way, and exchanged presents from each other.

There shall be a full and comprehensive list of greed later, but for now I shall just mention that [profile] ksirafai has given me the wherewithall to make perfume without having to use vodka as a base, [profile] anysbryd has proven irresponsible with shopping and given me a Gnomeregan t shirt which made me cackle and all others despair. Then, to make it worse, he gave me the Glee Christmas CD. Ginnie's sister, Abi, got me stuff in leopard print, and [profile] pierot got me a new kind of charm bracelet which jangles very satisfactorily.

I also got raven tat, more stripey socks and a small mountain of trashy paranormal romance novels and young adult novels, at which I remembered the days when I read Dostoevsky and Primo Levi for fun and then cackled and made a small pile which I shall settle down with later. Jeremiah received a rubber band gun, a stone stabbing dagger which looks like it should be removing people's hearts, and a replica of Voldemort's wand. I'm feeling a lot less safe than I used to.

I've also collected [profile] unifex from Hatfield, and he only had to push me away from the ice and snow once, and now am settled by the radiator, whilst my Best Beloved cooks Christmas dinner.

The cats are trying to climb the Christmas tree to get the baubles I've hung out of reach. This is currently amusing me far more than it should. Which one do you think will get to the top first?

Hope all are well and Christmas is treating you well.

This is the nicest story I've read in ages.

Anyway, just a quick Christmas greeting from me. I'm home, the tree is up and we've got a mountain of presents. Jeremiah is reading his book in bed, Ginnie and Matt, and Brett and Abi have all gone to bed and I'm now pottering around, waiting to get sleepy enough to doze whilst listening to Christmas carols.

Happy Christmas!

What's this? What's this?
There's color everywhere
What's this?
There's white things in the air
What's this?
I can't believe my eyes
I must be dreaming
Wake up, Jack, this isn't fair
What's this?

What's this? What's this?
There's something very wrong
What's this?
There's people singing songs

What's this?
The streets are lined with
Little creatures laughing
Everybody seems so happy
Have I possibly gone daffy?
What is this?
What's this?

There's children throwing snowballs
Instead of throwing heads
They're busy building toys
And absolutely no one's dead

There's frost on every window
Oh, I can't believe my eyes
And in my bones I feel the warmth
That's coming from inside

Oh, look
What's this?
They're hanging mistletoe, they kiss
Why that looks so unique, inspired
They're gathering around to hear a story
Roasting chestnuts on a fire
What's this?

What's this?
In here they've got a little tree, how queer
And who would ever think
And why?

They're covering it with tiny little things
They've got electric lights on strings
And there's a smile on everyone
So, now, correct me if I'm wrong
This looks like fun
This looks like fun
Oh, could it be I got my wish?
What's this?

Oh my, what now?
The children are asleep
But look, there's nothing underneath
No ghouls, no witches here to scream and scare them
Oh ensnare them, only little cozy things
Secure inside their dreamland
What's this?

The monsters are all missing
And the nightmares can't be found
And in their place there seems to be
Good feeling all around

Instead of screams, I swear
I can hear music in the air
The smell of cakes and pies
Are absolutely everywhere

The sights, the sounds
They're eveywhere and all around
I've never felt so good before
This empty place inside of me is filling up
I simply cannot get enough

I want it, oh, I want it
Oh, I want it for my own
I've got to know
I've got to know
What is this place that I have found?
What is this?

Christmas Town? Hmm...

I've just booked my Christmas holiday.

I'm off work from December 11th til the 18th, then back for two days before Christmas and then off again.

Huzzah! And hurrah!

I know it's August, but I wanted to be sure it was settled.

I had a wonderful Christmas.

There was midnight mass, lit by candles, and then home to mulled cider until 2 am.

Then in the morning there were stockings, then pottering and watching 'The Snow Queen' until midday, when there was breakfast, and then afterwards there was a giant orgy of presents, in which Jeremiah proved once again that he is a god of finding amazing gifts. Actually, Ginnie and Raven are pretty damn incredible as well.

Then there was 'Ballet Shoes' on DVD, which made me most happy, and more pottering, until we acquired a Sarah in the evening, at which point there was much scurrying, and chopping, and cooking until lo! A goose, some veg and a bucketful of roast potatoes. It was gorgeous, and the Christmas pudding that also followed (made by my sister) was totally fantastic.

And finally there was 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Mamma Mia', with cocktails that soothed me into a happy warm place of wiffle.

Today is my family Christmas, and so I'm about to set off to the wilds of Richmond to see a collection of siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and my Dad (of which I only have one).

So, onward!

To everyone out there, Happy Christmas!

Right now, I'm back home in London. I have a Raven making mulled cider in the kitchen, and the scent is filling the house. The cats are beginning to attack the Christmas tree, and jez is trying to persuade Raven and Ginnie to come to Midnight Mass with us, with limited success. Apparently he is worried about being too near the nuns tonight. Like all good Catholic children, he has a fear of nuns.

The stockings are stuffed, and my tree is shining.

I'm now signing off e mail and livejournal for Christmas.

Be well and happy everyone and I hope that if you celebrate Christmas it is lovely and if you don't, then you still have a fun and funky day.

Merry Christmas!
